Hi All - I had an hour long conversation with Bob Crose today about the potential Community School at the Berkeley Adult School. I will post the details of the conversation on the BAS Neighbors blog over the weekend but essentially want to make two points now:

1. The county is not interested in placing the school in our neighborhood if we are opposed to it. They do not want to get into a political debate/fight over this issue - they just want to put the school in place and would prefer to do it quickly and quietly.

2. As a result of point 1, the more you call and write the following people, the more uncomfortable they will become and will most likely look for a more suitable site for the Community School. I have been making lots of phone calls and sending lots of emails. I would REALLY encourage you to do the same - especially in the days leading up to the potential vote on Weds, May 25th. Some of these emails and phone numbers were VERY difficult to find - especially for Huyett and Craig. Their emails were not posted on the BUSD website so I am pretty certain they are not used to receiving lots of email from concerned residents. Please send them tons of emails! We need them to hear us AND respond.

Now is the time to act - if the school board does not vote this in by June 2011 it will not go in place this Fall.

Here is the contact information for those involved in the issue - let's load up their inboxes and voice mail boxes!
