About the Director
Andrea Sorkin was in graduate school for Media Studies when she
developed symptoms of a mysterious autoimmune illness. Sorkin decided to
document her experiences while taking a video autobiography course and
through her own research, discovered the prevalence
of similar experiences in the female community at large. This
ultimately led her to produce Priority Seating, a documentary that
examines what it means to be an American woman with an autoimmune
illness. It is the first film project to investigate the impact
of autoimmunity as a whole.
