Not having your mind feel with your body is one of the catastrophic feelings to have. My transgender male experience is a long and ongoing one, one that has always been apart of my life but tackling it, confronting it, talking about it, and living with it more directly, is recent. It was not that I was resistant to those feelings of who I am. I would say I had long known that I was transgender but had for a lot of my life did not have the vocabulary or access to anything that could bring me closer to being able to understand myself a lot sooner than I had wished. Even the simple beginners terms of body dysphoria, gender dysphoria (or gender identity disorder as it had been previously called), and transgender were not in my orbit for a lot of my life and the images of transgender people were often negative, exploitative, and were predominantly transgender women.
Negotiating who I was and what I wanted to be was something that I had admittedly repressed. It did vary and was arbitrary from situation to situation that I could act or own up to a fragment of my identity. For a period of time, I had disassociated enough from my surroundings and situation. I became an empty vessel and an enigma for other people. I could not flow with what was expected of me from those people, but I felt helpless. Even now, with gender dysphoria being de-stigmatized and removed from mental disorder manuals, I cannot say that dealing with a deeply closeted, inability to identify or recognize what I was going through was at all healthy. I am still recovering from a lot of the ways I let myself fold and internalize in order to get by, while not really living a life. To be marginalized in your own life is not the most relatable or appealing trait to have as a person, let alone in being the subjects of a work of art. Yet, there was a film where I did see myself as far as seeing an isolated, alienated central protagonist, marginalized both in their life and within the very frames of the film. That film was Todd Haynes 1995 masterpiece, [SAFE] and the character was Carol White.
I recognize that mixed reaction in feeling on the margins, often accepting just being near invisible and, at the same time, keeping up the appearance in attempting to fit into an expected role despite the unease, dissatisfaction, and sometimes even pain, that would arise from those attempts. A key moment for me is when Carol escapes from dangerous fumes that pervade Los Angeles traffic to an underground parking lot. Isolated from the rest of the world and later on when she exhibits similar negative reactions in front of other people, it baffles them. While that drive to the car garage is in a panic, her impulse in not to seek help but hide out where she cannot be found is very telling. It is a mental barrier as much as a physical barrier. Who would understand? I have physically gone to spaces far off just to collect my bearings in moments of my more severe instances of dysphoria. I could not be seen in that state and I never really wanted to be in the position of having to explain myself. Again, much of my life in knowing there was something about me, having very few words to work with, and in an environment that had very little connection that I could make and even less affirmation towards who I was and am, I went into the mode of concealing and being unapproachable. Anything to just get by.
[SAFE] remains one of the best films that I have seen in depicting the relationship of the mind and body deteriorating when they are at odds. When institutions, communities, and even those closest to you are unable to understand, you cannot help but be closed off and isolated, terrified that you have no place in the world. [SAFE] is very much about the mental and physical barriers we create for ourselves when we are on the margins. Carol White perhaps missed her change to find her place, and for that I learned to be more open to who I am and be more active in searching for my place. Jeanne Dielman, 23 quai du Commerce, 1080 Bruxelles, I came to later but felt connected into seeing a character adhere strictly to structures that are tools of repression and a constant source of ennui. Seeing a characterization and arc slowly eat away at a character in real-time was radical in 1975 and for me in the 2010s. I had a certain breaking point too. And it took me a while to pick up the pieces to get some sense of direction in my life. It was not immediately resolved and it is still an ongoing journey for me, but I definitely prefer that search and step forward rather than running on muscle memory than on true connection, sitting still, or on the margins any longer.
What is the recommended and safest (to not burn anything down) setting for ethash Algo to mine Ethereum Classic? I see that you can enter numbers for the core clock Mhz, memory clock Mhz, Fan%, power limit (watts). I can also switch on the OhGodAnETHlargementPill switch in HIVE overclock settings.
The first picture below is a rig mining ETC with 13 cards and overclock tuned for the lowest power consumption and highest stable hash rate. This rig is capable, without any changes in overclock tuning, to mine ETH, ETC or BTG. The hash rate is the same on Ethash algorithms. The second picture is BTG further demonstrating hashing power utilizing 8 cards on a different rig. Both rigs use the pill. Overclocking is up to you to experiment with as that affects stability and power consumption of the rig.
If you are on HiveOS, the DPM is usually taken care by the set configuration in hiveos. So you really have nothing to do except setting the power limit. This true for Nvidia cards but AMD you can play with it. what is your exact issue and what type of cards you have maybe I can help or other members can?
Only 5% of North Island brown kiwi chicks make it to breeding age without predator control. With effective predator control, which includes the use of 1080, 60% of the chicks can survive to breeding age when they are better able to fight off predators.
Any remaining traces of 1080 are broken down into non-toxic components by bacteria and fungi in the soil. Once 1080 has biodegraded, all that remains in the soil are natural compounds and minerals, including glycolate, fluoride and carbon, at levels that are normally found in the environment.
1080 can be applied safely and accurately by helicopters over large forests areas so that good coverage is achieved. We aim for complete coverage of selected treatment areas to prevent pockets of pest populations from surviving and repopulating the surrounding areas.
In 2011, the independent Parliamentary Commissioner for the Environment conducted a review of the use of 1080. The report assessed 1080 for its effectiveness, safety and humaneness and found that not only should we continue to use 1080 to protect our forests, but we should use more of it.
Predator plague events severely increase the risk to native species, and widespread predator control is needed to protect them. In these mast years, rats can have litters of up to 14 pups, five times a year.
The Environmental Protection Authority has approved the use of 1080 as a tool for predator control in New Zealand. All 1080 predator control operations must have permission from the Ministry of Health. DOC consults and/or partners with the relevant rūnanga, hapū and/or iwi for each operation.
Many conservation groups and organisations endorse the use of 1080, including Forest & Bird, Federated Farmers, OSPRI, the World Wildlife Foundation (WWF), the Environmental Protection Authority and the Ministry of Health.
The purpose of the Code is to describe the systems used to authorise and implement approvals required by the Section 72 Notices and to provide guidance on how to achieve the safe manufacture, sale and supply, transport, storage, use and disposal of 1080, PAPP and Strychnine products.
All suppliers and users of 1080, PAPP and strychnine products must adhere to the Code of practice for the safe use and management of registered pesticides containing 1080, PAPP and strychnine (Word 517KB).
There have been many scientific studies which have considered the risks of 1080 poison on native wildlife populations, including 29 species of native birds, 7 species of native reptiles and amphibians and 44 species of native mammals (including carnivorous marsupials). All these studies have found that there is no threat from 1080 poison to populations of these wildlife species.
In fact, the study by Kortner in 2007 found that some quolls were eating the 1080 baits designed for wild dogs and not dying. One female quoll, which was trapped and released, had evidence of eating six wild dog baits with no impact on her health.
Below are 12 key studies (in alphabetical order, since 2000) which conclude that 1080 baiting for invasive predator control has not impacted on the native wildlife populations in the region where baiting was undertaken
This study noted no effects seen on native birds, goannas and kangaroos and suggests that the consumption of two NT meat baits (weighing approximately 500 g each) by a black kite (weighing on average just under 600 g) would be a physical impossibility as the birds would need to consume 82% of their body mass. Similarly, the consumption of five of these baits by a wedge-tailed eagle would be highly unlikely.
This study found no impacts on populations of Australian Magpie, Brown Falcon (Falco berigora), Australian Kestrel (Falco cenchroides), Wedge-tailed Eagle, Pied Butcherbird (Cracticus nigrogularis), Grey Butcherbird (Cracticus torquatus), Australian Raven (Corvus coronoides), Little Raven (Corvus mellori) and Torresian Crow (Corvus orru) from aerial baiting with 1080 meat baits for feral pig control.
