Power toggling toggles now wrong USB in wdr4300 test image. The gpio values in gpiomodel have changed their place for wdr3600 and wdr43x0. Archer c5 and c7 probably have same gpios for USB power but are not defined yet. I saw Archer gpio's in some (polish) page.
EDIT:
=openwrt-archerc57
-archer-c7.c?rev=36788
Awesome! :D i just found out that the C7 is marginally more expensive than the one i had been looking at, so it will probably be one of them if i can find the supported V2.0 version. Is there an ETA on the new release?
Dairyman may need a new test device, OpenWrt supported, two USB ports, power toggling, possibly ac capable too. TP-Link wdr3600/4300 or Archer C5/C7. It is right time for it. I would give my share too.
Tested: I got DDNS and remote management work. DDNS package has been developing a lot and may need GNU wget with ssl package and BIND host package for DNS requests in some cases. These packages could be in the extroot build. Click the Hints show more link in DDNS page to read more. I managed to install wget via luci normally now. Bind host did not fit any more to my 8 MB flash.
I use in my Car 3 Routers, 2 for Germany and 1 for Austria. All 3 Routers have a manual MCC/MNC-Set, so when crossing borders, or traveling in a Border-Regions, which can be more then 20km besides 2 countrys, its no longer possible, that a roaming network (with better signath strengh) can switch over the connections ;-)
I defined a mount point mounting to /mnt/motion based on USB stick label and now the latest test ROOter mounts that stick twice. My defined mount point and sd?1 show there. Interesting is that sd?1 is mounted as fat although I formatted the stick as ext4 (after noticing first time double mounting) and rebooted.
According to the Modem/Network Status page (as well as modem connection log), it says "Failed to Connect", however I have a connection which is reported on Status/Overview under "IPv4 WAN Status" and transfers traffic fine.
flashed, changed APN & set password then plugged modem in fired up router and bam as usual i have perfect internet.
This is the usual experience with my setup :) Thanks Dairyman.
All signal info available too.
Keep you updated on stability.
The new MultiWeb release uses kernel 3.14 for the 8meg routers rather than 3.10 to take advantage of bug fixes and the new NCM driver. I tried it on a couple of 8meg routers (WR842ND and WNR3500L) with no problems.
You need to have a micro USB plug that you can solder to rather than a re-purposed USB cable. I have those parts on order but they won't be here for a while so the serial recovery went out the window.
Evidently fdisk does not tell the file system type but something else of the partition. I formatted FAT32 stick by Minitool to ext4. I did not delete partition first. Minitool shows that the partition ID is 0x0C FAT32 LBA. I think that you need another tool. This partly is why I asked you to include partitioning and file system tools. I am not sure if it is not mounted properly, even if the script thinks it to be FAT. The mounted directory works at least at first glance.
I don't know why but I only just discovered ROOter. I've done some searching and haven't found an answer to my question so I'll post it. Is there likely an issue trying to setup a firmware for an Asus N16 router to be used with a Clearstick Rndis modem? This modem is a Ubee and either a PXU-1960 or 1964. I'm not clear on which moel it actually is based on my internest searching but regardless, I think it won't matter so long as there is RNDIS support in the router. I don't see any Asus routers on the list nor any Ubee modems so it has me curious if there is a reason...
We do not have support for this router or modem. I presume we do not have support for the router simply because we have not had any demand for it or testers but upon inspection openwrt does support this so Dairyman would have to do his magic to make it work:
I've had a hiccup with my MR-3420 v2 loaded with Huntsman. For some unfathomable reason the router/firmware has stopped allowing data to pass through it either wan or lan. We had some serious weather here in the NSW Northern Rivers in the past few days including 150mm rain plus local lightening strikes. At first I feared we had water in the antenna's coaxial cable, but on switching to an old Billion 3G router, the data flows normally. Perhaps it's had an electrical jolt or something.
Just try reflashing with Rooter. It happened to me a while back and i put it down to files/data being corrupted from lightning strike. It also happened to one of my harddrives and both times a reflash fixed the problem.
I have a 320U unlocked Telstra 4G. I recently purchased a Netcomm NF5 as according to Netcomm's compatibility chart they should work fine together. But when I plug the 320U into the NF5, the lights are on but nobody is home. Well one light is flashing and the connection manager comes out with "no device connected" so it won't connect. Even though I have a Ethernet cable connected to the desktop.
If I leave the 320U connected via USB to the desktop and, using a network adaptor, connect wirelessly to the router I am able to connect. But in the 'network sharing window' I am told "no internet access". Netcomm support tell me "there is no reason why it should not work" (after updating firmware) so they now suggest that I should take it back to the seller and get a replacement. I just think that the replacement will do exactly the same.
That "no device connected" is puzzling. On the face of it, it suggests that the router can't identify the modem. But you mention using a "connection manager". If this is software running on the PC which you usually use to control the modem when it's plugged directly into the PC (instead of being plugged into the router), then please be advised that you shouldn't be using that software. When the 320U is plugged into the router, the router controls the modem, and your control of the modem is done via the router's menus.
The Clear Stick Atlas is the RNDIS modem that Clear had for awhile. Model number PXU-1960 (I think). Freedompop has been selling what appears to be the same thing. Of course, since Sprint is shutting Wimax down next November, my use of this modem will only be until then. After that I've got to figure something different out. It's not clear to me what Sprint is going to do with the old Clearwire customers (they aren't selling Clear internet to new customers anymore but there are a fair number of customers still using the service.
So, if I'm reading this right, it sounds like I can flash the Huntsman onto this router and give it a go. The only thing I might be looking for (that I can think of now) is support for a VPN client in the router. It's not clear to me if the OpenVPN support in funnelweb and multiweb includes a client.
I just checked for the download for the WNR3500L that Dairyman mentioned but the only version that has a download for that model is Multiweb. So maybe that's what I'll try first then. Am I correct to think that I can flash the WNR3500L Multiweb firmware to the Asus RT-N16 and it likely will work?
Surely the modem must create a connection as it contains the sim. I thought that the connection manager was merely a 'dial up' device. It does not connect automatically, when I hit 'connect' on the manager window it dials a mobile number and connects via that number to the internet, much the same as any smart phone.
If the computer cannot see the modem when it is plugged into the router then it can't do that.
I may be wrong here, it's a little out of my field.
What Rooter and other firmware does is establish the connection via scripts to the modem via ID's and when the ID is recognised it then switches the modem on to "modem mode" and establishes a working internet connection.
The internet piped from the router to the computer carries no information with it apart from your usual internet traffic. However if you log into the router then you can access and use commands to interact with the modem.
But just as Jhend said the "modem manager" plays no role when the modem is plugged into the router as the router is not programmed or designed to interact with the modem manager program and its scripts.
When I plug the modem into the router and connect to the computer via ethernet. In the connection pop-up it says 'connected to: Netcomm 1513', then 'no internet access'. Below that is the 'dial up and VPN portion showing a 'wireless connection'.
I've been happily using ROOter (Huntsman ver.) on my TP-Link TL-WDR3600 box for a few months now. My primary dongle is a Huawei E3131 (was HiLink, now serial mode) and I sometimes tether my phone... both of which work well
Lastnight, I decided to upgrade to FunnelWeb and then to MutliWeb just to try it out. All went well but it took me sometime to get the dongle connected and functioning using MultiWeb. It would appear that the firmware is not "interacting" with this dongle as well as it did in Huntsman
Also remember that browsers will often cache a routers IP and sometimes you will not get in especially if you use a different router on the same IP. You need to go to the browser settings and clear the cache (these days you can choose a time frame on this). But remember it can delete all your passwords if you go too far back.
Good to see its all going. Yea your repeater will be a bit of work but hey i remember when i had to play with all this IP stuff and got very confused. I am still a noob but understand it a little better.
How easy it would be to make a luci page for ROOter consisting of some user configurable buttons?
There could be a directory where user created scripts could be placed and the buttons could show their name or/and explanation from the script name or something like it.
So the page could be static, just the scripts in the folder would be changed when user wants so.
