Now available: Complete Android developer verification requirements in Play Console

SERVICE UPDATE
Hi Google Play Developer,
New features are now available in Google Play Console so you can meet Android developer verification requirements.
As announced last year, Android is introducing developer verification to make it harder for bad actors to repeatedly spread harm. These requirements mean that in order to be distributed on certified Android devices, apps must be registered to a developer with a verified identity. This applies to apps distributed via Google Play as well as those distributed outside of Play.
Apps not registered by September 2026 will no longer be installable on certified Android devices in select countries.
What you need to do
You can complete all of the necessary steps to meet Android developer verification requirements in Play Console, including registering any apps that you distribute outside of Play, starting today. You do not need to create a separate Android Developer Console account.
What you need to do:
•
Once you receive an automatic registration email from Play, go to your Play Console Home page to see which of your Play apps have and have not been automatically registered
We'll automatically register eligible Play apps for you. You'll receive an email shortly with the results. You'll only need to take action for apps that weren't eligible to be registered, according to the package name eligibility rules.
Once you receive the automatic registration email, go to your Play Console Home page to check the results. A package name status will be shown next to each of your apps, and you'll be able to filter by unregistered apps.

New apps you create in Play Console will be automatically registered
From today, new apps created in Play Console will be automatically registered to your developer account.
If the package name has never been seen before on Android, it will be registered as part of creating your app. If you have already used the package name, for example if the app was installed on a certified Android device before creating the app in Play Console, you will be required to prove ownership of your signing key on the Android developer verification page.
