Hi Google Play Developer,
|
 |
You are receiving this email because you have at least one app on Google Play that is available to, or used by, users in the U.S.
What’s happening
Texas’ App Store Accountability Act, Texas SB 2420, is now in effect after a federal appeals court stayed the preliminary injunction issued in December 2025. This law requires app stores to verify users’ ages, obtain parental consent, and provide users’ age information to developers. It also creates new obligations for app developers who distribute apps in Texas.
It is important that you review this law and understand your obligations. While Google Play continues to have strong reservations about this law's framework for online child safety, we are working to get the capabilities ready to support your compliance needs in Texas.
What this means for you
We had previously announced Play Age Signals API (beta) to help you meet your obligations.
Play Age Signals API version 0.0.3 is ready for your integration now. In the coming weeks, Google Play will require age verification for new users in Texas and the API will start returning age signals for eligible Texas users.
Please see this Help Center article for more details on our plan.
