Changes to purchase flow recommendations, featured products and cart abandonment reminders

We’re introducing changes to purchase flow recommendations, featured products and cart abandonment reminders to help you more easily merchandize your products outside of your app. In the coming months, we’ll be launching a new Merchandizing and optimization page where you can directly select eligible SKUs to promote across all the out-of-app purchase flows that Play supports. Play will then leverage machine learning models to determine the best surfaces to display selected SKUs to help them sell outside of your app.

From March 16, you'll no longer be able to make any changes on the existing purchase flow recommendations and featured products pages. The cart abandonment reminder opt-out form will also no longer be supported for one-time products. Play will automatically migrate your selections to the new Merchandizing and optimization page once it launches, and you’ll be able to change any selections there.

|
After the Merchandizing and optimization page launches, the existing pages for purchase flow recommendations and featured products will be deprecated. The cart abandonment reminders opt-out form for one-time products will also be deprecated.

Special considerations for featured products
|
|
|
For featured products that are actively configured before March 16:
|
|
|

|
|
Featured products without a set end date will remain in place.
|
|
|
|
•
|
|
For featured products with an end date after March 16, you can either make them available indefinitely, or delete them if you don’t want them to be merchandized past March 16.
|
|
|
|
•
|
|
Offers and events associated with featured products will no longer be supported.
|
|
|
|
•
|
|
Audience & country targeting associated with existing featured products will also not be supported. If you want to restrict country selection, you must do that at the SKU level.
|
|
|
|
•
|
|
If your product only targets licensed testers, they will no longer be available for merchandizing.
|
|
|
|
•
|
|
Performance reporting and associated metrics will remain visible on the Featured products page until it is deprecated when the Merchandizing and optimization page launches.

|
Special considerations for purchase recommendations
|
|
|
For purchase recommendations that are actively configured before March 16:
|
|
|
•
|
|
SKUs will remain active for out-of-app purchases.
|
|
|
|
•
|
|
Country targeting associated with purchase recommendations will no longer be supported.
|
|
|
|
•
|
|
If your product only targets licensed testers, they will no longer be available for merchandizing.
|
|
|
|
•
|
|
Performance reporting and associated metrics will remain visible on the purchase recommendations page until it is deprecated when the Merchandizing and optimization page launches.

Special considerations for cart abandonment reminders
|
|
|

|
|
You can opt out of cart abandonment reminders for one-time products using this form until March 16, or wait until the Merchandizing and optimization page launches to opt out. If you’ve already opted out or want to remain opted-in, no action is required.

|
|
•
|
|
Only one-time products are included in the initial Merchandizing and optimization launch. Your existing subscriptions blocklist will remain in place.
