Join us for something a little bit different on the last Monday of every month, where we tweak our usual format to bring you even more original music onto the Barleycorn stage!
We begin with a short-set segment featuring three songwriters sharing two songs each: Cade Wickham returns to share his latest acoustic work following a standout performance in our recent songwriting contest; Jessica Garvie brings her heartfelt "folk-meets-country" originals and "tales of truths" to life; and seventeen-year-old Noa Opert offers a soulful glimpse into her budding musical journey.
The evening continues with the brilliant Alanna Joy, a chart-topping songwriter renowned for her fierce performances and vulnerable, evocative lyrics.
To close the night, prepare to be entranced by Mage and Christiaan, a duo whose gift for captivating storytelling and guitar work makes for a truly special finale.

Cade Wickham
Cade is a promising young home grown talent - His entry into the Songwriter’s contest was well received, and he might play that one and another with us this coming Monday.
Jessica Garvie
Musician / singer / songwriter, Jessica brings to life some of her 'tales of truths and other ponderings'. Performing with her acoustic guitar, “Charley”, they perform in and around Cape Town bringing a little bit of folk-that-meets-country with their originals to the listeners.
Besides playing the local scene in and around Cape Town, Jessica has also performed in Germany at a private music event in June 2024. From 2019 to 2023 Jessica co-hosted Live Music every Thursday evening at Reload in Sunningdale, where she also performed multiple times per year.
From mid 2019 to mid 2024 Jessica served on the Barleycorn Music Club’s committee fulfilling multiple roles.

Noa Opert
Hi I'm Noa and I'm 17. I have an obsession with music and singing. I struggle to understand algebra but i appreciate it.
I come from a musical family and am so grateful for it. I look up to artists such as Laufey, Adrienne Lenker, and Liana Flores. I have performed 3 other times and hope that I will continue to grow in my musical journey and algebra.

Alanna Joy

Irish/South African songwriter Alanna Joy is known for her fierce performances and vulnerable lyrics. She began her musical journey as a busker on the streets of Cape Town before entering the Rock scene and going on to perform on stages around South Africa with well-known acts like Majozi, Robin Auld and Craig Lucas.
Alanna formed the group Lost//Youth in 2021 who have gone on to release 3 EPs, complete five national tours and garner attention from local and international radio and press, with their song 'Bittersweet' topping the 5FM Indie chart in 2024.
