We’re back and ready for 2024. Our first show is on Monday, 15th January, and we have some spectacular artists lined up for you. Come and get your musical year off on the right note and join the Barleycorn Music Club in supporting and celebrating live, local, original music, with a sprinkling of some good ol’ favourite covers in the mix. The show will be hosted by Jessica.

TINA BUC

Tina Buc grew up in the North-West of Germany and studied Music at the Universities of Muenster and Dortmund. She wrote her PHD about the German-Austrian composer Hanns Eisler, who is best known for his long artistic association with Bertolt Brecht and for the scores he wrote for films. Currently Tina is working as a music teacher at the German International School in Cape Town and as a performer and songwriter. “I’m deeply believing in music being a unifying and healing force. My songs deal with the daily struggle of facing a complicated, distorted but beautiful world. What makes me happy: Performing with others and creating a space of sharing with the audience.”

RIDICULOUSLY SERIOUS REBELS

Hey! We are the Ridiculously Serious Rebels and we are a trio comprised of two students and a teacher. Us students tend to overstay our lesson times during school and Rae therefore calls us rebels, and as you can tell by this introduction; we are ridiculously serious.
Raphi is our bubbly, fun vocalist/guitarist, who when she isn’t making music is known for giggling and eating. Our vocalist is our silly Sarah who is commonly known for never shutting up about books, music and caffeine. And lastly our wise, witty and wonderful Rae, who is known for his eccentric socks/sweaters and love for tea and coffee.
Together we are Ridiculously Serious Rebels.

Singer/songwriter
I started composing music at the age of 12. I have and always have felt that music is an environment where you can express any kind of emotion and it is still constructive.
I have opened for national acts:
Johnny Clegg; Wendy Oldfield; Nibs van der Spuy; Cutting Jade.
I spent the last 8 years in Johannesburg and recently moved to CT.
I would say my style of music is anything I can express. My influences include:
Tracy Chapman; Melissa Ethridge; Alanis Morissette; Toni Childs… To mention a few.
I have been a full time musician since 2003.
