Andy Mercer

--------------------

Andy Mercer came to songwriting late in life as one of his “things I want to do when I retire”. After a couple of years developing short instrumental pieces and becoming increasingly frustrated that the words wouldn’t come, he discovered the Cape Town School of Songwriting and enrolled for the course. Two years later he says that this move made the difference between sitting in the audience and wishing he had something to perform, and getting up on stage and doing it.

As a relative newcomer Andy approaches each new song as a fresh challenge and tries to learn and build in something he hasn’t done before - whether in words, rhythm, melody, or performance. He believes that this keeps his interest high - and hopes it does the same for his audience.

--------------------

Terry Lloyd-Roberts

--------------------

Terry Lloyd-Roberts is an English teacher, moonlighting as a singer of songs she describes as “mostly soulful, emotive and lyrically rich”. “The songs I choose to cover - and the ones I write - tend to be about the often turbulent territory of the heart”.

Performing at the Barleycorn alongside her will be: Keith Merrington on keyboard, George Hayden on bass, and Debbie Rudman on backing vocals and cajon.

--------------------

Alain Tshimanga & Nyalu B

--------------------

Alain Tshimanga is a professional guitarist originally from Congo. He has performed with many musicians and plays different types of music - jazz, blues, rumba, you name it. Just recently he has teamed up with a new upcoming artist from Malawi - she goes by the name Nyalu. Together they're focused on African style of music.
