Martin Prochaska

Born in Johannesburg raised in the Eastern Cape. Started playing guitar at 19, played in pubs and events around the area. Moved to the UK and slowly stopped performing. Been in Cape Town for 13 years and decided to start performing again. Love writing my own songs and enjoy performing covers of mostly British indie rock.

Mel Malisch

A heartfelt singer-songwriter whose music flows from real life moments and deep reflections, to pure feel-good vibes. With a sound described as honest and authentic, her indie-folk melodies nod to the raw magic of the 90s, blending emotional depth with uplifting charm.
Whether she’s writing about personal growth or the richness of every day life, Mel channels it into music that heals, uplifts and inspires. With two young boys and a full heart, she’s carving out space to grow as an artist, dream big and collaborate with fellow creatives.

The Lucent

The Lucent is a contemporary rock band that, while they do play covers, concentrate on writing their own music. Songs range from ballads to classic rock, with covers being lesser known numbers.
The band members' ages span 55 years, with the youngest being 14 and the oldest 69. James recently joined the band, like 3 weeks ago, and is playing bass. When he is not playing bass, his other “part time” job involves him trading in his guitar for the bagpipes as Pipe Sargent of the Cape Caledonian Pipe Band.
The band started around 2010 as a group of mussos just getting together to jam. We named the band "After Dark", but subsequently changed the name to "The Lucent", which means “glowing, giving off light”.
Originally we only played covers, primarily from the classic rock era, but over time we started to write our own material, as well as play more contemporary rock. Today, our repertoire is about 70% original material and 30% covers. The covers we play are the lesser known numbers, as opposed to the numbers covered by most bands.
Our line-up is as follows:
Lynn Dixon - Vocals, keyboards, guitar. Lynn also writes.
Jeff Rainsford - Drums. Jeff writes lyrics to which we then add music.
James Mitchell - Bass
Joe Brink - Guitar. Joe is the youngest member and plays electric and bass.
Hambly Quantrill - Guitarist and songwriter, playing electric and acoustic.
