Barleycorn brings you another epic lineup of local talent next Monday! We kick things off with Natalie Lucia, who brings a sincere intensity to her alternative acoustic set, drawing from her years in the underground scene to share heartfelt songs of life and loss. Followed by Carla Conrad, whose music balances indie rock grit with a dreamy alt-pop shimmer and powerful storytelling. We close the night with Lukin Joshua, a Cape Town-based multi-instrumentalist and looping artist who builds rich indie-folk landscapes and rhythmic anthems in real-time. Find out more below!

Natalie Lucia performs her take on alternative acoustic music with a sincere intensity, she has been the voice of a few underground South African bands and worked on collaborations with other artists over the years. She performs heartfelt songs based on love, life and loss.

Carla Conrad

Carla Conrad is a fierce singer-songwriter whose music blends pop and alternative elements, combining indie rock grit with alt-pop shimmer. Her rise in the music scene has been marked by powerful vocals and relatable lyrics that express vulnerability and hope.
Discovered on Instagram by Daniel Baron, her career has grown through authentic storytelling and emotional depth. Her songs fuse the introspective heart of a singer-songwriter with the atmospheric edge of indie rock and the dreamy pulse of alt-pop, creating music that feels both personal and emotionally direct.
In 2025 Carla received a grant from the SAMRO Music Fund through the SAMRO Foundation, supporting her continued songwriting and artistic work.
Her live performances, often alongside guitarist Rob Watt, combine energetic indie rock and alt-pop anthems with intimate acoustic moments. This versatility allows her to connect with audiences on both large festival stages and in smaller venues.

Lukin Joshua

Lukin Joshua is a Johannesburg-born, Cape Town based indie-folk and pop singer-songwriter, loop artist, multi-instrumentalist and music producer.
He is known for energetic live performances built around looping technology, layering instruments and sounds in real time to create dynamic arrangements. His performances range from relaxed acoustic textures to upbeat rhythmic sets that engage audiences.
Lukin has shared the stage with South African artists including Springbok Nude Girls and Black Cat Bones, and has performed at festivals such as Splashy Fen and the Lube & Tube Festival.
