Next week Monday, Barleycorn brings you a night of incredible music with Bernadette Richards, an artist who beautifully blends her poetic mastery with a newfound passion for songwriting; Seth Cort, a multi-instrumentalist who weaves acoustic folk-pop with heartfelt storytelling, known for his singles "Hold On" and "Heart's Repair"; and the soulful High-End Blues Band, a collective of talented musicians bringing passionate, emotion-evoking blues. Bernadette Richards’ creative journey started in her teens with her Dad teaching her introductory chords on the guitar, alongside trying her hand at poetry after discovering the Beat Generation. You’ll find some of her poems on https://www.poetrypotion.com/

Although the influence of music was ever-present, songwriting and singing were a new discovery for her later in life. She values the arts and believes creative expression and the connection thereto is integral for mind, body and spirit.

Seth Cort

Seth Cort is a Singer-Songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from Cape Town in South Africa, playing a fusion of Acoustic Folk and Pop.

Having made waves with his debut single "Hold On", his career soared to new heights with a standout performance on the Expresso show.

Seth's biggest songwriting and musical influences are The Lumineers, Sons Of The East, Jeremy Loops, Mumford and Sons, Hozier, Mathew Mole.

Having released his latest single "Heart's Repair" in March 2024, Seth is gearing up to unleash even more music in the next upcoming months, promising a harmonious blend of his musical talents and a new chapter in his musical sound and identity.

Stay tuned for the rhythm of Seth Cort's journey that harmonizes love for music, storytelling, feelings of the heart and the bonds that matter most.

High-End Blues Band is a group of super talented musicians from Cape Town, South Africa. Besides being great friends all the members are passionate about ‘The Blues’, they play with soul, giving 100% to every performance.

High-End Blues aims to invoke emotion in the hearts of their audience

The band comprises Lance Allam on vocals, guitar, violin, and harmonica, Beshara Ornellas on lead vocals, Mark Buchanan on lead guitar, Mark Macdonald on drums, Maurice Paliaga on bass guitar, and Greg Clifton on keys.

Founder members and longtime players include James Kibby, Ian Buchanan, Wouter Reyneke, Claire Anderson and Murray Anderson. They join us when they can and all carry that special High-End Blues DNA with them.
