DR WEST
--------------------
Psycho, Surfer and Muzo, “Dr West' is a local from Muizenberg and has been jamming since the 1970s. He mainly plays original surf/folk/rock music and will be making his Barleycorn debut.

MARTIN YOUNG
--------------------
Martin Young is a Knysna-based surgeon who discovered the Barleycorn Folk Club in the early 1980’s. On leaving Cape Town he played on and off in other small folk clubs and local bands, but found his creativity when a Knysna church offered him a platform to do so. This being a solid gig with an enthusiastic audience Martin feels he learnt just about everything he knows there.
Martin considers himself to be primarily a finger style guitarist songwriter who sings his songs himself… because nobody else will...  Yet!

ROBIN AULD
--------------------
Slide guitar, harmonica, African blues guitar stylings and soul vocals all feature in the fresh sound of Robin Auld.  Familiar to South Africans from his hits All of Woman, Baby you been good, Perfect Day and many others, Robin Auld's music has evolved from the poprock sound of his early hits into a contemporary mix of roots and blues.
Born in Lusaka, Zambia to Scots parents, Robin's childhood was spent alternating between Southern Africa and Scotland; a journey reflected in the African and Celtic influences in his music. He learned to play the guitar by listening to Hendrix, Ry Cooder and Neil Young, also absorbing influences from the various guitarists of Southern Africa.
He plays lively solo shows with a stompboard and loop pedal, and as an electric band with some of SA's top musicians.  Based in Cape Town, he has performed and recorded in New York, London, Glasgow and Nashville, performing at festivals such as Cambridge Folk Festival, Tartan Hearts, Gold Coast Ocean Fest, and Womad.

“A genuine and unaffected flowing together of cultural strands. And unlike a lot of singer/songwriters you can, hell you should, play this loud. " Unpeeled UK.

“With just his guitar and his right foot stomping on the floor, Robin Auld rocks the room more than most bands do.”  On Stage SA.
