2025’s Barleycorn Songwriters’ Competition is open for song entries! Entries close Monday, 25th August 2025, after our regular show.

Song entries must be entirely original, non-derivative, never performed in public, nor previously published or shared, online or in any other public domain.

The artists of the top entries will be invited to play their songs live, for the very first time, at Barleycorn in front of a panel of judges, with, as always, amazing prizes to be won! 

Prizes sponsored by Bothners (vouchers), Cape Town School of Songwriting (songwriting class), Willem Moller (studio recording), and Barleycorn Music Club (cash prizes).
