Jeremy Olivier

--------------------

Jeremy’s music career began in his small home town of Chinhoyi, Zimbabwe, where his passion for guitar catapulted him into a rock band and had him touring the country from the age of 14. After completing his A-Levels in Harare, Jeremy moved to Cape Town, South Africa, where he obtained a BMus Honours in Jazz Performance from the University of Cape Town’s College of Music and the music world began to open up.

Jeremy has performed all over South Africa, as well as in Germany, Switzerland and The Netherlands and has shared the stage with great international artists, such as George Benson, Katherine Jenkins, Jonathan Butler, Daniel Bedingfield and Oliver Mtukudzi. He has also shared the stage with some of South Africa’s finest musicians and artists, including Sibongile Khumalo, Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Hugh Masekela, Freshly Ground, MiCasa, Mango Groove, Lira and Johnny Clegg.

In February 2012, Jeremy released his first single, “Serendipity” to radio which became an instant hit and introduced him as an artist to the South African radio-listening public. He then recorded a four-track EP and released two further singles, “It’s My Time” and “What About Now,” both receiving enthusiastic responses from deejays and the public alike. “Serendipity” charted at #6 on Heart 104.9’s SA Top 10, and “It’s My Time” charted at #21 on Radio Helderberg’s Top 30 and at #2 on Bush Radio.

In August 2014, Jeremy released “Beautiful,” a song about his adopted son who was abandoned at birth. The music video went viral on social media and was used by UNICEF South Africa to raise awareness for their campaign, Ending Violence Against Children, leading to Jeremy becoming a Celebrity Advocate for UNICEF SA. Later that year, he released his debut self-titled album, “Jeremy Olivier,” earning a 2015 SAMRO Wawela Award nomination for Best Male Artist and Composer.

In 2016, Jeremy competed on the inaugural season of The Voice South Africa, earning the quickest four-chair turn of the season and finishing in the Top Four as part of Coach Lira’s team. Following the show, he collaborated with Lira on the single “Love Back,” which reached #2 on the Jacaranda FM Top 20.

Jeremy has also composed and arranged music for animated productions including Jungle Beat and The Lion of Judah, and wrote theme songs for South African rugby mascots. His 2018 album, “Changing World,” recorded in New York, featured international collaborators including Will Calhoun, David Sancious, Tom “Bones” Malone, and Ladysmith Black Mambazo.

After extensive touring in Europe, Jeremy relocated with his family to The Netherlands in 2019. He continues to record and collaborate internationally, working on new projects while expanding his presence in the UK and USA music markets.
