
Barleycorn brings a banger this Monday, March 16th, in an epic showcase of original music, storytelling, and raw improvisation. Seth Cort opens with a fusion of acoustic folk and pop, bringing a harmonious blend of musical talents and storytelling from his recent work. Followed by Larry Strelitz, who returns to our stage with seasoned songwriting from his years performing in venues and festivals across the Eastern Cape. Richard’s Backline Blues closes the night with a show of thrills and spills where musicality meets spontaneity, as this ensemble of exceptional musicians performs their practiced material together live without group rehearsals! Seth Cort is a Singer-Songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from Cape Town in South Africa, playing a fusion of Acoustic Folk and Pop.
Having made waves with his debut single "Hold On", his career soared to new heights with a standout performance on the Expresso show.
Seth's biggest songwriting and musical influences are The Lumineers, Sons Of The East, Jeremy Loops, Mumford and Sons, Hozier, Mathew Mole.
Having released his latest single "Heart's Repair" in March 2024, Seth is gearing up to unleash even more music in the next upcoming months, promising a harmonious blend of his musical talents and a new chapter in his musical sound and identity.

Larry Strelitz

Larry Strelitz recently settled in Cape Town, having spent the last 35 years at Rhodes University as a Professor of Journalism and Media Studies. While in Makhanda/Grahastown, Larry played local venues, both solo and in bands, including the National Arts Festival. He has played at Barleycorn since the 1990s.

Backline Blues

Richard's Backline Blues is an ensemble of amazing musicians that Richard Put's together. The members are ever changing and evolving with different songs and instrumentation for each show.
This Band is all about the Blues, Collaboration and a huge dose of Improvisation. Band members learn the material for the show but do not rehearse together. The only time they play the song together is on the night in front of a live audience and so this is where the magic lies because not only is it exciting for the audience to experience this but very thrilling for the band to Hear & Perform the songs together on the stage live for the 1st time.
It's a show of thrills and spills where musicality meets spontaneity. So make sure you're there on Monday the 16th March to watch them sink or swim. Either way it's going to be an exciting musical adventure because the talent on stage is exceptional.
