Ihave a list of bBoxes of path shapes of 0.05um width (M1, M2, M3 overlapping/stacked on each other) in my current hierarchy. I have dbIDs of shapes as well. I tried to use function "dbCreateViaShapeArray" but it requires calculations of how many vias we can place(and this could change upon different lengths of the overlapping paths, i could calculate the length of path by subtracting starting y and ending y from their bBoxes, but still it is not generalized for different path lengths). And also it is not giving equal enclosures of both the ends of the paths.

The requirement here for me is to use auto-via function somehow on these overlapping shapes somehow through SKILL code because auto-via is giving me required proper results.

"viaGenerateViasAtPoint" I use this function(to stack Via1 and Via2) and it does fine only problem is it takes some 15 to 20 seconds to put vias over just 5 metal shapeswhich are less than .5um in length and .032um of width. why is this function so slow?

BTW, I did some searching around the time Quek responded and only found one report of an issue with slowness with this function, but it turned out that the user found his own mistake (in his code) and so it wasn't something we needed to fix. Could still be a problem of course, but we'd need to see the details of the problem.

Can someone please point me to the SKILL function used to invoke the auto contact feature (i.e. create via -> auto) in Virtuoso? I would like to use this function to automatically insert vias instead of doing it by manually clicking where I want the auto via to appear.

If there is no such public SKILL function available (any idea why?), can someone please suggest how should I go about coding such a function myself. I'm thinking of using dbLayerAnd, dbGetOverlap etc. to find the intersection area, but I'm not sure if I can traverse the hierarchy and get the shapes and net underneath the intersection area.

Thanks Lawrence, that certainly helps a lot! The first solution uses leLayerAnd which only works with shapes within the same level. Thankfully, the 2nd solution you pointed out should allow me to traverse the hierarchy and bring some of the shapes to top level for manipulation. I'll give them a try later on and report if I have any success with it.

btw, I think the 2nd solution are only able to bring bBox to the top level, not the actual shapes. Is flattening the design my only option to bring the actual shape to top level? And if I do flatten, the net info will be lost, no?

Yes, the code just transforms the bounding box, not the shapes themselves. If I have understood your problem correctly, you are wanting to create a via at the intersection of two appropriately overlapping shapes in the layout, whether these shapes are present at level 0, or at other levels. Perhaps I am oversimplifying this, but I would have thought that the layers and the dimensions of the overlap is what is important (and not the net information?). You might be able to copy the shapes or Yank and Paste the section of interest to a "scratch" cellview, i.e. one that is in virtual memory only and not save-able, for further processing. By the way, in addition to the leLayer.* SKILL functions, there are also dbLayer.* functions, such as dbLayerAnd() which accept shapes for their input, this might be very useful to you.

Yes, you are right about the requirement to drop vias between 2 overlapping shapes, I do not need to know the net in order for the vias to be created. However, I would like to automate some of the via dropping without user manually clicking on those intersecting areas, and only through net connectivity will the code be able to know where to drop these vias.

Of course, making a simplified via dropping function that traverse hierarchy is the first step i.e. ignore net connectivity. After that I'll see if I can extend this function to account for net connectivity.

I am looking at the thread that was linked above, and initially it looks kind of confusing, lol. I just want to constantly refresh one button, really. I suppose an auto clicker program would be easiest for that?

Libby Automotive Skill Center's Alignment Machine is currently down. The Hunter Automotive Skill Center's Alignment Machine is available to be use. Please note Hunter Auto is only open on weekends and the alignment machine is available by appointment only.

The Libby Auto Center is a 28 bay facility. There are 16 lifts, body and paint bays, bays without lifts, welding area, engine overhaul area, tool check out, work benches in bay areas, and motorcycle repair areas. We are currently increasing our parts inventory to include most fast service filters, fluids, lights and etc.

Special tools and equipment include Snap-On alignment machine, three tire changers, Snap-On Computer Analysis, Sun starting/charging tester, Hunter tire balancers, two A/C recharging units. The equipment available at the Libby Auto Skills shop is modern and up to date. Test equipment is checked and calibrated regularly. Work tools are Craftsman, Snap-on, Matco or other quality brands.

All rates apply to towing performed by Fort Stewart ASC wrecker for vehicle with a gross weight rating of 10,000 pounds or less. Wrecker service called in by FS ASC will be charged to the vehicles owner at cost plus 15%.

The auto resale lot is located at the PX Furniture Store Parking Lot, Bldg. 419 on Fort Stewart and across from Lincoln Cemetery off N. Middle Ground Rd on Hunter AAF. If you would like to put your private vehicle up for sale you must register your vehicle at the Libby or Hunter Auto Center.

"The facility manager Ben was extremely helpful. The place was very busy on the weekend that I came in and he was walking around the bays and asking if anyone needed any help. I spoke to him about my vehicle and he gave me the guidance and information I needed to get the job done. He even took some time and physically helped me replace some parts which saved me some money. He and his staff were super nice and helpful. The facility does seem to be in need of a makeover, but it is an auto shop. Facility seems to be a bit understaffed with only three of them doing maintenance, helping and assisting customers like myself with repairs and checking customers in and out at the front counter. Overall, I love the facility and think it is a great thing to have available for us to use."

The staff at the Libby Auto Shop have been beyond helpful! The manager and mechanic didn't hesitate to step in and help with thier knowledge. I was able to find the problem and save me hundreds of dollars vs taking it to a shop.

"Employee went above and beyond to help me with my car repairs. Employees were both professional, knowledgable and friendly. The work was completed quiclky and done correctly. I highly recommend them for any of your auto care needs."

To use this facility you will be required to read our SOP and be given a shop orientation brief to familiarize yourself with our shops equipment, procedures and disposal processes of hazardous waste. The SOP can be read at any time.

Shop orientation briefs are available at 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. You must sign up on the USAG Italy website. There are only 3 slots available per orientation due to social distancing requirements.

Yes. We perform trouble shooting and repairs. We do not perform all repairs but we have partners that we can refer you to. You may also bring your own mechanic to repair your vehicle, but will be held responsible for their actions and performance in this facility.

Yes. You may purchase oil while performing an oil change in our facility which must be put in your vehicle's engine at the time of purchase. We do not sell oil that you can take out of the facility. The vehicle receiving the oil must be registered with AFI or other United States Forces Europe plates.

We offer towing, roadside assistance and unlock service during normal operating hours. These services are not available if you are on the autostrada. Only ACI can perform these services on the autostrada.

Only vehicles registered to authorized patrons are authorized access to the Automotive Skills Center. The only exception is a vehicle being inspected prior to purchase by an authorized patron. Patrons may be required to show vehicle registration at sign in.
