Dear Aunt Lynn,
I understand your frustration and I can only speak for myself and my family.
I was not even AWARE of Janet’s visit until Friday afternoon when my Uncle Charlie called me and told me that she was visiting him and that he wondered where my parents were because she wanted to pay them a visit before she headed back home.
Given the timing and my current circumstances of Dan working Friday and my raising my grandson right now, aside from the fact that we had plans for that evening I would have been more than happy to meet with her had I been given some notice so that I could have time to plan and make arrangements.
I’m sorry it didn’t work out for her this time. Maybe a little bit more of a notice next time might help get folks together to meet with her.
I wish you a Merry Christmas Aunt Lynn.
-Cheryl

Subject: [Barkemas] Thanksgiving
I am VERY disappointed in the Barkema family!
Janet went to the trouble and expense to travel all the way to Michigan to spend
Thanksgiving with her family. I understand that due to Richard's surgery, Nan was unable to host the family get together.
What upsets me, though, is that all of you who are in the area were "too busy" to arrange time to spend even 5 minutes with her to say hello!
This is NOT the family I used to know, and I find that distressing!
Lynn
