Adding volumes online

Sometimes situations arise when new volumes are needed for backup. In this case, I add new volumes to the config - reload the config. How to force the system to continue the backup immediately? Because the system waits for about 30-60 minutes and then sees that there are empty volumes.

Depends on what types of volumes you are adding.


You can use the label command to create new file-based volumes.

If you modify the configuration - I am assuming you modify the volume count in the pool? - then you can use the update command and select the pool option(using bconsole)

If you want to add tapes, you use the update slots command.

There is missing information in your query, hopefully I covered your case.
