Hello List,

how do I configure Bareos to use a mixture of LTO5 and LTO6 tapes
drives? I.e.: LTO5 drives can only read/write LTO5 tapes and not LTO6.
LTO6 drives can read/write LTO5 and LTO6 tapes.

Thanks for the help.

Cheers Jan

Hello Jan,

right now, there is no way to map handle what you need.

The only way that we have now is that you have a distinct pool for
LTO5 and LTO6, and

- the LTO5 Pool is only read and written by your LTO5 drives
- the LTO6 Pool is only read and written by your LTO6 drives.

I guess what you want is to have only one pool and bareos automatically
checks which drive can be used, right?

Best regards,

Philipp

That's it! If all LTO5 drives are busy why not use an LTO6 drive to
read/write another LTO5 tape? After all this is what is so very useful
about the LTO philosophy. Would be nice to see that being supported by
Bareos in contrast to Bacula ;-)

Thanks for all the great work!

Hello Jan,

would you please file a feature request in our bugtracker?

That way we do not forget about it.

Thanks
