Extension of vSphere Plugin

Are there any plans for the vSphere plugin to be able to backup entire machines and not just the VMDK files?

It would also be interesting if it were possible to restore a single file from a VMDK file without having to restore the whole VMDK file first.

This would add value to the solution.

What do you think?
