Hey out there, here are the latest news from the Bareos Developer Lounge:

* Our FOSDEM devroom was very successful

In February 2020 FOSDEM took part in Brussels. This year Bareos hosted a
Backup and Recovery developer room and we had lots of interesting talks.

* Easy migration from MySQL/MariaDB to PostgreSQL

The use of MySQL/MariaDB databases with Bareos is deprecated since Bareos 19.
Our new tool bareos-dbcopy can help you to migrate a MySQL/MariaDB database.
Simply add the new PostgreSQL database to the Bareos config and run bareos-dbcopy.

* Ukrainian translation is now available for proof reading in POEditor

The Bugs section

* Scheduler did not start copy or migrate jobs

This was a side effect of refactoring the scheduler code. In 2019 we refactored
the scheduler completely to be able to run jobs when active clients connect
to the director. Afterwards, jobs needed a client configured to be scheduled. For
copy or migrate jobs this was usually not the case, so they were not run anymore.
This is fixed now, see

* We fixed the upgrade script for MySQL/MariaDB

The upgrade script was optimized and tested with MariaDB but there was an incompatible
SQL statement that did not run with MySQL. That's also fixed.

Available short term apprentice projects

* Proof Reading of Ukrainian translation

* Restore: allow abbreviated timestamp input
When you select one of the options for "before a specified time" currently the time
specified is required to be down to the second in YYYY-MM-DD hh:mm:ss. It would
be great if this was improved allow only the date and maybe only a year and month.
If somebody wants to pick that task up, get in touch with us on bareos-devel and
we will be happy to do some mentoring.
