I'm currently running 18.2 bareos ubuntu 16.x

Just finished up a gluster cluster that I was looking to tie into my backups.

Just wanted to confirm that baroes-storage-glusterfs is  RHEL only.

And that best I can do at this time is just use gluster-client?

Thanks

You can read (backup) your data directly through a gluster node or you can do it through a gluster client. If you read directly from a node, there's a possibility you won't have accurate information at all times (split-brain).

Also, when restoring data, your best bet would be through a gluster client. There's probably a way to write data directly to a gluster cluster, but I've only done that through a client.

Thanks,  using gluster client makes most sense both ways

Also, depending on your setup/arhitecture, you might want to look into gluster geo-replication.
