TrayMonitor

Hi Guys,

shout out to this amazing piece of software and i simple love it, but sometimes it can be a bit overwelming ;-). 

It can be that I am missing something but can you tell me how do I configure traymonitor? Specially when it comes to the "Monitor Ressource" , I am not sure where to configure it? So I understand the concept of configuring the console-, client- and storage configs but not sure where to configure the Monitor Ressource.

Maybe you can help?

Hello Philipp,

thx for your answer and that is the documentation i was reading already
and i decided to ask you this question ;-)

So to clarify:

i see there needs to be configured a "Monitor ressource" (Console ->
Monitor)

Monitor {

}

where do I configure it? if i configure it in
/etc/bareos/bareos-dir.d/console/   a reload will tell me that it is
misconfigured.

In the example at the bottom of the page
(https://docs.bareos.org/Configuration/Monitor.html#example-traymonitor-configuration)
the documentation is maybe not clear about where to put this
configuration OR I am missing something?

This part here:

Needs to go into the tray monitor configuration. i.e. below /etc/bareos/tray-monitor.d/*/*

The other snippets go into the daemons' configuration that you want to monitor.

This allows the monitor to connect to those daemons as either a director or as a console:

For the filedaemon, the traymonitor behaves like a director:

For the storage daemon , the traymonitor behaves like a director:

And for the Director the monitor behaves like a console:

that's what i thought, you need to first install Tray Monitor, did I
missed this piece of information somewhere?
