Best practice for online (aka Cloud) backups with Bareos (Debian based)

Unfortunately, since the Droplet / S3 backend is not available for Debian based platforms, I wonder what alternative viable method is suitable for backing up with bareos to the cloud or towards the network?

I'm currently trying to use an sshfs (fuse) mount point on the storage daemon via file backend, but I'm not sure if this is also reliable and performant on production systems with large amounts of data?

Does anyone have any experience with Hetzner Storage Boxes https://www.hetzner.de/storage/storage-box

as a target for Bareo's backups?
