Trying to relabel tapes after updating tape library

I just replaced my old 8 slot tape library with a new 48 slot.

I made a new storage entry in my SD btape tests pass.

I updated the Dir Storage entry and the pools to point to the the new Storage.

I kept the media type the same, and loaded in some blank media and the media from the old changer.

update slots 

It finds all the old media and new correctly but when I do

label storage=tl4000 pool=Offsite barcodes encrypt

It tries to label everything  including the existing volumes moved from the old storage.

llist volume=<oldvolume>  shows the expected value.   I have not ran update on any of the volumes.

Any thoughts why it’s trying to relabel existing volumes?  What did I do wrong?

I ran a consolidate job just to see as it’s read only on my setup (consolidated pool is a disk pool but some jobs are migrated to tape when disks pace is low)

It mounted but I noticed:

Device status:
Autochanger "tl4000" with devices:
"tl4000-lto6-0" (/dev/tape/by-id/scsi-35000e1115efbf001-nst)
"tl4000-lto6-1" (/dev/tape/by-id/scsi-35000e1115efbf004-nst)

Device "tl4000-lto6-0" (/dev/tape/by-id/scsi-35000e1115efbf001-nst) is mounted with:
Volume: GU1349L6
Pool: *unknown*
Media type: LTO5



I assume that Pool *unknown*

Means I have soemthing wonky in my catalog where it’s ’sorta right’ ?

Pool "unknown" only means that the SD does not know which pool this
volume belongs to. As the pool is basically a catalog-only information
that the SD doesn't really need to know, there are some situations where
the Director just didn't tell the SD.

Not really sure. However, you could check with 'status slots' if the
director realizes these are the volumes it already knows about.
And you can just provide the slot parameter to "label barcodes" so it
just labels the slots you want it to label.
