Tuesday – May 19th, noon to 1:30 – HAVENS OF HOPE (a world peace devotional meeting)
Interfaith prayers, music, poems, writings, and meaningful conversations in the HEARTH ROOM at Unity Spiritual Enrichment Center –
3918 San Juan Ave. in Port Townsend, with light refreshments to follow.
This month the topic is COURAGE -- From the Peace Manifesto:
I envision a world, guided by virtues, in which respect, understanding, and courage, create clear, healthy boundaries to protect
the safety and well-being of all. Even the most difficult conflicts contain a peaceful solution.
I use my courage to follow the peaceful path and resolve conflicts in a just and restorative way.
Within clear boundaries, we all agree, sustainable peace is the safe foundation for humanity.
This is from the second volume of prison poems by Mahvash Sabet, named Writer of Courage at the PEN Pinter Prize ceremony in 2017.
Sabet was imprisoned in March 2008 and initially condemned to a 20-year jail sentence for her belief in the Baha’i Faith.
Released in 2017, she was arrested once again, in July 2022, and sentenced to a further 10 years on the baseless grounds.
She is currently incarcerated in Evin Prison in Iran.
