Sun. March 8: Artist and naturalist Darwin Nordin does a gallery walkabout among his lush, layered mixed-media paintings at Northwind Art's Jeanette Best Gallery. Everybody is invited to this free event at 3 p.m. in the gallery, 701 Water St.
Darwin, a Seattle artist, is known for his art and for teaching young participants at Centrum. During his appearance in the gallery, he will talk with visitors about the joys of making things and experiencing nature. He'll also go from painting to painting in "Confluence," the art exhibit on view now.
"Confluence" features Darwin's work alongside art by Kristin L. Tollefson, and it runs through March 16; the gallery is open 12 noon to 5 p.m. Thursdays through Mondays. For more info about this and other Northwind activities, visit
