Sat., Feb. 21: A feast of Romantic music with the Port Angeles Symphony brings together the 65-member orchestra, internationally known and homegrown soloist James Garlick, and two conductors. This last concert of the winter features Aaron Copland's "Quiet City," Samuel Barber's Concerto for Violin, and Antonin Dvorak's rarely performed original Seventh Symphony. Tickets and information are at
https://portangelessymphony.org for this concert, which features orchestral musicians from Clallam, King, Kitsap and Jefferson counties.
Along with guest artist James Garlick, Symphony Maestro Jonathan Pasternack has invited a guest conductor to lead the Copland piece: Allion Salvador of Seattle.
The public is invited to experience this soulful music at Saturday's 7:30 p.m. concert — come early for Pasternack's brief discussion at 6:30. Also, you have the option of attending the orchestra's final rehearsal at 10 a.m. Saturday. Both are at the Port Angeles High School Performing Arts Center, 304 E. Park Ave., Port Angeles.
