The Port Townsend Women’s Chorus will be singing in concert on Friday, March 13 at 7:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 1111 Franklin Street in Port Townsend. We warmly invite you to come hear the chorus, about 65 voices strong, performing literature that is sure to move and inspire listeners. Some of the pieces featured are the beautiful “Where the Light Begins” by Susan LaBarr, the rousing traditional spiritual, “Wade in the Water,” arranged by Ruth Morris Gray, and the lyrical “Away from the Roll of the Sea” by Allister MacGillivray. Other favorites include the Kacey Musgraves hit “Rainbow,” and “Crowded Table,” arranged by Andrea Ramsey.
A second concert will be held on Sunday, March 15 at 3:00 p.m. at the same location with the addition of a guest choir, the Port Townsend Youth Chorus. Both groups are branches of the Community Chorus of Port Townsend and East Jefferson County. Concert admission is by a suggested $20 donation at the door.
The Women’s Chorus is directed by Leslie Lewis, accompanied by pianist Lisa Lanza, with guest musicians Kristin Smith, violin, and Thomas Blomster, percussion. The Youth Chorus is co-directed by Lewis and Elise Sinclair.
