Andrea Guarino-Slemmons to Showcase Nature Photography alongside Pat Herkal's unique handcrafted embellished birds. Nature photographer Andrea Guarino-Slemmons is excited to share her photography featuring a diverse array of wildlife and breathtaking landscapes from her adventures. In a delightful collaboration, Andrea's images have been selected by talented artist Pat Herkal, who has transformed them into stunning fabric prints adorned with exquisite beads and intricate embroidery. This partnership highlights the beauty of nature through both photography and textile art. Additionally, Andrea will unveil a collection of new photographs showcasing ravens, pygmy owls, and awe-inspiring landscapes from the picturesque Olympic Peninsula. Don't miss this opportunity to experience the magic of nature through Andrea's lens.
Pat Herkal is a fiber and bead artist. She is passionate about birds, not a ‘birder’, but always aware of birds in her environment. This month at she will have a flock of favorites from the wild and others created from her imagination. She uses photographs in books and magazines to create her patterns. Her birds are made with a variety of silks, many from discarded kimonos. The bird bodies are stitched on the sewing machine, stuffed with fiberfill then hand embellished with embroidery, beads, feathers and wire. The more beads the better, especially tiny beads. Pat has fun creating, and when people see her work, she hopes it makes them smile. There can never be too much color in her world. Her philosophy is “More Is Not Enough”.
