Sat.-Sun. May 16-17: Flynn Creek Circus brings artistry and athleticism to Port Angeles in four shows under the big-top tent on the waterfront. The internationally touring troupe, with acrobats, jugglers, aerialists and musicians, tells a story called "The Bridge" based on a Nordic legend, all in an animal-free circus show. Tickets are at https://fieldhallevents.org and at the Field Hall box office, 201 W. Front St. All-ages shows are at 2 p.m. Saturday, 2 p.m. Sunday and 5 p.m. Sunday, while an adults-only burlesque show is at 8 p.m. Saturday. These performances are under the 25-meter crimson-and-champagne tent set up outside Field Arts & Events Hall, with a view of the Strait of Juan de Fuca. Flynn Creek Circus' mission is to 'radically inspire through disciplined artistic and athletic risk,'" says cofounder Blaze Birge. The company, with its scrappy cast of 19 performers, has been described as "punk rock adjacent," with performances that are astonishing and with a troupe that doesn't take itself too seriously, she added.
Flynn Creek Circus shows have original storylines and outrageous stunts, Blaze promised, with a "fundamental signature style of 'pushing tradition to the edge.'" Pictured: Flynn Creek Circus crew setting up the big top on the waterfront in Port Angeles.
