Hello friends, we are excited to be hosting yet another blues jam at Discovery Bay Brewing Co. The next jam will be this Sunday, July 10 from 3 to 6 pm at their lovely outside garden, 948 N. Park in Port Townsend, just across the park from the Goodwill.
This jam is known for bringing out great musicians, fun for playing with and listening, and known for blending volumes quite well with a group of amps all going at once. Tunes are led by the Midnight Train: Chicago Bob and Barb Dawson, with Jayme Ryan on bass, Aric McKenna on guitar, and Dan Stacy on drums. And many of YOU ALL doing leads on most of the tunes we play. We’ll be working out of the “Blue Book,” also known as Chicago Bob’s Blues Jam Cheat Sheets, Volume One, available at Crossroads Music if you don’t have a copy yet.
A couple of things to note about the blues jam:
- If you’d like to sing one or two, we have over 300 blues tunes in the two Cheat Sheets books. Choosing from that set will make sure the band can back you up well. Otherwise if it’s a straight blues format we can probably get with it but we don’t know every song out there.
- Musicians, please sit in front of your amps instead of behind or beside them. You’re the primary listener and need to hear it most.
- Sitting in is encouraged but you do have to bring your own instruments.
- Dancing is allowed, laughing is tolerated, singing is encouraged and fun is required.
They have a nice tent for shade and the weather looks great. Let’s have some fun!
