Perennial Concerts in the Woods favorite, Ranger and the Re-Arrangers make their highly-anticipated annual return to Concerts in the Woods in Coyle on Saturday, March 9th at 3 p.m.
From rollicking and raucous to sweet and tender, the band’s music shifts easily between moods and styles, evoking the smoky spirit of old-time Paris cafes, and capturing the rowdy musical energy of Romani campsites. At their performance in Coyle last March, the versatile “gypsy swing” band from Seattle attracted the largest audience of the entire 2023 Concerts in the Woods series.
Ranger Sciacca, a violinist originally from Bainbridge Island, and his guitar-playing father Michael Sciacca formed the band in 2006 after a pilgrimage to the world’s foremost Hot Club Swing event, the Django Reinhardt festival in Samois Sur Seine, France. Concerts in the Woods attendees will be sure to hear Reinhardt’s influence all throughout the band’s Coyle show.
Ranger and the Rearrangers have now released 4 CDs and perform over a hundred shows each year at music festivals, concerts in the park, swing dances, weddings and events of all sorts. Their upcoming show marks the fourth time the band has played Concerts in the Woods, a testament to their ongoing popularity on the Olympic Peninsula.
