I don't get paid for this listserve for which I have performed faithfully the last 30 years or so. My only paycheck is making folks follow guidelines AND once in a while, I get to post whatever I want.
I don't abuse that privilege.
And...
I am cashing my paycheck tonight!
I just saw Saltfire Theatre's opening night performance of All in the Timing.
Gosh, it is so flipping good.
This is community theater at its finest. You don't need big sets, fancy lighting, complicated anythings.
You need story, and passion, and commitment. Good acting, comic timing, Joy.
And a good script. David Ives' collection of five short comic and touching plays is well known in some circles, and for good reason. Intelligent and funny, with word play for DAYS.
Oh, and the costumes. I want that red dress. You'll know which one I mean when you see it.
I talked to Ginger McNew-Driscoll after the show. She has been involved in community theater for years and has a special connection to it. This is what she said -- if I can read my scribbled notes:
It is phenomenal! I love that there is new input and energy in live action theater. It was obvious the audience loved it. I was really impressed.
Let me add that the venue is really fun. Vintage by Port Townsend Vineyard at 725 Water St. It is an intimate space with good sightlines (Saltfire brought in a raised stage!) with comfortable seats. There is access to their excellent wines before the show and during intermission.
Tickets are available for all remaining shows. Pre-purchase at
Pay what you wish at the door. Opening night was sold out so get there early. Box office opens at 6:45 pm and the wine bar inside is open at that time.
This was not just opening night for All in the Timing. It was also opening night of the first ever production for Saltfire Theatre.
Please let there be many more productions.
Community supported theater. It doesn't get better than this.
