Dear Friend of the Bardroom,
Are you looking for some cultural stimulation to liven up your Thursday night? We've got just the ticket for you.
The last Thursday of every month is Great English Poetry Evening at Massolit Books & Café. So let us recommend the following Bardroom-friendly event for your listening pleasure this coming Thursday:
A Reading of Romantic Poetry
by Andrew Singer
Poet, cultural journalist and Bardroom regular Andrew Singer has been a Budapest resident for 20 years. Come enjoy an evening reading where he gives voice to two great works from Romantic poetry:
Percy Bysshe Shelley's "Julian and Maddalo", and
excerpts from William Wordsworth's "Residence in France"
Percy Bysshe Shelley is regarded as one of the finest lyric poets in the English language, and Wordsworth helped launch the Romantic Age in English literature. If you've never delighted to hearing any of their works out loud, come find out what all the fuss is about. And if you already have, well, see you there!
This event is free of charge. Massolit is Budapest's newest English-language bookshop, with a great selection of new and used books, and while you're there feel free to sample their new and tasty Direct Trade coffee and American-style café treats like carrot cake, brownies, and real chocolate chip cookies.
