Travel down under with the Budapest Bardroom!

You are warmly invited to join us for a very special Bardroom welcome to Summer, Sunday, June 10 from 5:00-8:00 pm, featuring not one but two travel writers from Down Under!

Australian Lyn Drummond will be back in town reading from her latest book just published, Where To Go For a Seven-year Cycle, a  philosophical, off-beat travel book based on seven years’ travel and work experience mainly in central and eastern Europe. Jung says that seven years of our lives represent a cycle. For Lyn this included three years as a public relations officer at the Australian Embassy in Budapest. The book intersperses elements of exile and anonymity in foreign countries with delightful travel experiences, a unique and wonderful blend.

Scott Alexander Young is an irrepressible New Zealander transplant to Budapest.  A television scriptwriter, travel writer and actor, he is creator and writer of Max's Midnight Movies and Space Cadets now showing on AXNSciFi, and will be seen soon as an actor on Channel 4 UK in the medieval miniseries World Without End. Scott will read a travelogue from Lebanon where he was once Editor of Time Out Beirut, plus an excerpt from his forthcoming children’s book, The Wild Cats of Piran, about the Queen cat Felicia and her nine lives of travel.

The evening will be rounded out with great smooth folk tunes by singer-songwriter-musician Vincent Bella.

Rumor has it that former Bardroom host Jeff Taylor will also be in town and may even be persuaded to come on stage and read some of new work! (I hope that may be right!)

Plus we will have our usual quiz questions and spontaneous audience poetry competition with, let us say, unique prizes and lots of fun.

The Bardroom itself will be traveling for this event, to Massolit Bookshop and Café, in the heart of the 7th district in downtown Budapest, at Nagy Diófa utca 30-32.

Massolit will be serving fresh muffins at the event and have a fine selection of Direct Trade coffee and specialty teas. They will also open their garden during this event for smoking and socializing.

This event is free of charge.

All in all this is sure to be a super introduction to summer!  See you there!
