Stolen Device Protection adds a layer of security when your iPhone is away from familiar locations, such as home or work, and helps protect your accounts and personal information in case your iPhone is ever stolen.
When Stolen Device Protection is enabled, some features and actions have additional security requirements when your iPhone is away from familiar locations such as home or work. These requirements help prevent someone who has stolen your device and knows your passcode from making critical changes to your account or device.
In the event that your iPhone is stolen, the security delay is designed to prevent a thief from performing critical operations so that you can mark your device as lost and make sure your Apple account is secure. Learn what to do if your iPhone is lost or stolen.
When your iPhone is in a familiar location, these additional steps are not required, and you can use your device passcode like usual. Familiar locations typically include your home, work, and certain other locations where you regularly use your iPhone. If you choose, you can set up Stolen Device Protection to always require these additional security measures, even when your iPhone is in a familiar location.
Stolen Device Protection is available with iOS 17.3 or later and must be turned on before the device is lost or stolen.
To turn on Stolen Device Protection, you must use two-factor authentication for your Apple ID and set up or enable the following on your iPhone: a device passcode; Face ID or Touch ID; and Significant Locations* (Location Services).
If you'd like your iPhone to enforce the additional Stolen Device Protection security measures regardless of its location, choose "Always" under Require Security Delay. By default, the additional security measures are required only when your iPhone is away from familiar locations.
With Stolen Device Protection, you may also be required to wait an hour before using your iPhone to make changes to critical security settings or your Apple ID. If your iPhone is not in a familiar location, you must authenticate with Face ID or Touch ID, wait for the security delay to end, then authenticate with Face ID or Touch ID again to update settings such as the following:
When you get a new device and start up Windows 10 for the first time, the antivirus protection that comes installed with the device is your default security app. However, Windows Security is pre-installed and ready for you to use at any time.
As the title and the linked post say, I always get a notification + sound from Windows Security once every startup (about 2-3 minutes after login screen) telling me to turn on my virus protection. But when I open Windows Security, Kaspersky is always enabled and on. I can also see with task manager/logs that Kaspersky had been running essentially right at startup.
I want to turn off the security mechanism of gmail for my account so that it never ever asks me "you're logging from a strange place. We'll send an sms to your phone or call it and you're to enter the code you'll receive". I mean, never ever. No matter what country I'm in or continent.
Yes it can be annoying, even inconvenient if you're caught without your phone and needing access, but we humans suck so much at memorizing passwords, and we suck even more at keeping USB tokens and YubiKeys secure. So Google offers a "lower friction" alternative :
If it bugs you so much they now offer the alternative to "prompt" you on your phone, using some sort of technology now indistinguishable from magic enchantments instead of entering a code you get a screen with a login approval message and a huge yes/no button pair.
OK, just don't go blaming anyone when a snot nosed Russian kid empties your accounts which you didn't remember were tied to your Gmail account for ease of access to your credit union's website, and do the following :
Now , you may head over to 2-step verification options and disable first the phone, then the codes, effectively disabling 2FA. For some reason it won't let you disable the phone last. It has to go first, before any other alternatives you may have had active there.
I am tired of waiting for this option especially as a Smartthings user. I just put the camera on a smart plug and have smartthings turn on and off the power to the camera as the Smartthings security modes change. Not ideal but it works.
Turning off the camera should be the first thing possible in the UI. Not by having to go to the settings. And an option in the security settings. I just bought the camera and this is the first thing I was looking for. Disappointed it was not already added after reading this thread.
I turned off security shield after a false positive block on a legitimate site I was trying to access about 30 minutes ago. I am still unable to access the website despite the switch for this feature in the app being turned off. Just in case it was a caching issue, I switched to an entirely different browser and I am still not able to access the website and still get the security shield block message.
Thank you for reaching out to us in regards to our security shield. I was able to locate your account with your registration information. I am seeing that it has been disabled. I recommend that you attempt to reset all the internet equipment. This can be done by unplugging the cable line, power line, and removing the battery backup if you have one for both the modem and the router for a solid 3-5 minutes. Are you able to try this and let us know? - Lyn
i have numerous cameras placed indoors on main floor of house. Would like to be able to not only utilize them with security, which, I understand is a given, but be able to turn the cameras OFF when alarm system not on, and ON when System is in Active state. I would envision this as an option. IF option chosen then when alarm system is disarmed, camera goes off - if alarm system is armed, then camera turns on.
Yes!!! I was wondering if the system would be able to turn on/off cameras when armed/home/disarmed and now after seeing your post, I realize that this is not an ability yet. Slightly disappointed with this and hope that they figure out how to integrate this.
An event trigger for arm/disarm. Home, Away, Disarm, so that the user can create rules based on those things. That in my mind was a bare minimum of getting a security system in the wyze family of products.
Yeah I am still shocked that this feature has not yet been made. Wyze is really a bit of a lack luster. Where are the broken glass sensors? My system is constantly going offline, while the cameras and bulbs, and everything else is staying online.
Multifactor authentication (MFA) is a critical first step in securing your organization. Microsoft 365 Business Premium includes the option to use security defaults or Conditional Access policies to turn on MFA for your admins and user accounts. For most organizations, security defaults offer a good level of sign-in security. But if your organization must meet more stringent requirements, you can use Conditional Access policies instead.
If your company or business has complex security requirements or you need more granular control over your security policies, then you should consider using Conditional Access instead of security defaults to achieve a similar or higher security posture.
Conditional Access lets you create and define policies that react to sign-in events and request other actions before a user is granted access to an application or service. Conditional Access policies can be granular and specific, empowering users to be productive wherever and whenever, but also protecting your organization.
If you have a plan or license that provides Conditional Access but haven't yet created any Conditional Access policies, you're welcome to use security defaults. However, you'll need to turn off security defaults before you can use Conditional Access policies.
I created a parameter, filterfield, and bound it to a table that I created in the query editor. When I do this, I get this potential security risk message. Is there a way to turn this off? When I give the pbix file to my client, he gets this message whenever he opens the report.
I have tried everything I can think of, I've had two friends who deal with IT problems look at my computer via shared screen with no luck. Since updating to Windows 11 I never noticed Windows Security would not open until recently, it's active and running in the background in Task Manager. I've tried the Powershell and CMD hotfixes, I've reset my PC locally and cloud but I have no restore or recovery points prior to the Windows 11 update. My PC is up to date on all firmware from Microsoft but Windows Security still will not open. Windows Security nor Windows Defender is not listed under my "Installed Apps" or "Default Apps" so I can't try a drop down repair on it. It does show within my Task Manager that there is Windows Defender engine running and in the hidden icons tab it shows Windows Security active. How do you fix this without having to lug your whole PC to a shop?
Repair Windows Security using DISM: Open Command Prompt as administrator and run the following commands: DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /StartComponentCleanup
@ShahbazUbaid my windows license is already expired. and i am not getting any security updates ever since. and that is also the time where i noticed that my windows security app won't open. is it because of my windows license bein expired? do you think if i reactivate my license, it will solve my problem?
@TayDean It's early 2024 and I am in the same boat since the most recent update. In all their wisdom, Microsoft has removed Troubleshooter with this update and wants me to contact tech support. The last time I did that, I was 77 people away from help. I do not have that kind of time.
I've tried all the suggestions here except reinstalling Windows, which is a major hassle and would require hunting down the software I use for work and reinstalling it too. I had to do this once last week because a previous update crashed my computer. It created all manner of work-related issues.
This is really dumb and Microsoft should have fixed this already. But I'm open to more suggestions.
