1. Carpool to Flea World Demo 2. BARC Event on Valentine's Day! 1. Carpool to Flea World for Demonstration... What? Valentine's Demo against Flea World When? Saturday, February 10th 11:00 am Where? Flea World (4311 Orlando Ave.), Hwy 17-92 between Orlando and Sanford (Click here for map) Carpool Info: At the request of several BARC members, there will be a carpool leaving from UCF around 10:00am. The meeting place is the bus loop in front of Millican Hall. If you would like to attend, send a quick email to bar...@gmail.com so we can get a rough idea of how many cars will be needed. Also, if you are willing to drive or want to take your own car, mention that too. :) Here is the info about the event again... Flea World, a flea market in Sanford (10 miles north of Orlando), regularly features animal acts including tigers, elephants and other animals. Click here for more information. During the month of February, Flea World will feature a circus act that includes a solitary elephant named "Dondi" (pictured above in a promotional photo). Dondi is an Asian elephant who was violently captured in the wild in 1974 and brought to this country to perform. Dondi is also forced to give rides at Flea World. She is kept in a small trailer when not performing. Please join us for the Valentine-themed demonstration, "Have a Heart, don't go to the circus" *Join us for lunch after the demo at Clay Oven, located at 1275 S. US Highway 17/92 in Longwood. 2. Show a Little Love for the Animals this Valentine's Day! What? BARC event on Valentine's Day When? Wednesday, February 14th 10:00 am - 2:00pm Where? at the BARC table outside the Student Union BARC will be passing out goodie bags to promote compassion toward non-human animals this Valentine's Day. In each bag there will be vegan candy, this pamphlet about factory farming, and information about our group. We did this last year, and it was very successful! If you would like to help put together the hundreds of goodie bags needed for this event, we will be meeting at the gazebo next Monday at 5pm (February 12th) to work on them.
