1. First Meeting of Spring
2. Animal Rights Conference in Central Florida

1. Spring '07 BARC Meeting

What? Official BARC Meeting
When? Monday, January 22nd
5:00 pm
Where? Gazebo between the Washington Center and Phillips Hall

Our first meeting of the Spring semester will take place this coming Monday at 5pm. We have some very creative (and definitely effective!) events planned for the coming months and invite other suggestions for possible events at this very important kick-off meeting. This past week we had a fantastic showing during Radical Rush in preparation for this exciting semester and added many new names to the mailing list. So come on out and meet both new and old members and get involved in the animal rights movement here at UCF! I promise, we don't bite. :)

PS. Also feel free to bring vegan/vegetarian food with you to the meeting (potluck-style). We love food and we especially love to share.

2. 6th Annual Compassion for Animals Action Symposium!

What? Animal Rights Conference
When? January 26 - 28, 2007
Where? Regal Palms Resort
2700 Sand Mine Road, Davenport, Florida (around 30 miles SW of downtown Orlando)

Time is running out to decide if you are going to attend the best animal rights conference in Florida--which, luckily for us, is taking place right here in Central Florida! Events begin next Friday night (January 26th) and go until Sunday afternoon/early evening (January 28th). If you are in town, don't miss out!

Students pay only $40 for 3 full days of information, networking, and fun! [If you would really like to attend the conference but can't afford the registration fee, you can get in for free by donating your time as a volunteer. Please email the conference organizer Chas Chiodo at cha...@earthlink.net if you would like become a volunteer. Also, if you can only attend one or two of the 3 days, you can still come and pay a reduced rate when you arrive.]

Some topics to be discussed include: vegan and vegetarian nutrition--everything you want to know; the bird flu epidemic; humane education; dog-chaining ordinance in Orlando; animal agriculture and world hunger; and greyhound racing in Florida.

A list of the presenters and their bios can be found at the Veg Events website.
