Administrative meeting to Discuss Shrine Circus When? Monday, September 17th Time: TBA Where? Location: TBA BARC just got word that President Hitt will be having a meeting with other UCF officials about the Shrine Circus that comes on campus every year to the UCF Arena. In April, his assistant was shown video footage of circus training techniques along with information about the Shrine Circus and she was so appalled that it was passed to President Hitt. As a result, key UCF administration will now be discussing a policy that, if passed, would ban the use of animals in entertainment at UCF. This is an amazing step for our campaign against the Shrine Circus and would be a huge triumph over animal cruelty happening right here on our campus! So we need your help... The meeting will take place on Sept. 17th, so BARC is organizing a campaign to flood President Hitt's office with letters, emails, faxes, phone calls, and information materials in support of the campus circus ban. Come see us tabling all this week (9/10-9/14) to learn more about the Shrine circus, sign our petitions, and show your support for cruelty-free entertainment. Spread the word about circus cruelty and encourage everyone you know to send e-mails, call, or write letters! Radical Rush Fall '07 What? Radical Rush When? Monday, September 10th -- Friday, September 14th 10am until around 2pm each day Where? Tables outside the student Union! This week (9/10-9/14) is Radical Rush! Radical Rush is a week-long tabling event held every semester by Progressive Council to help recruit people to our cause. BARC will be tabling outside of the Student Union, so come join us and meet other like-minded groups at UCF! We will be leafletting about the circus and trying to get people interested in the rights of all animals. See you there! 3. Next BARC Meeting! What? Official BARC Meeting When? Thursday, September 13th 6:30 pm Where? Gazebo between the Washington Center and Phillips Hall Our next meeting will be Thursday, Sept. 13 at 6:30 in the gazebo by the bookstore. We will be discussing plans for the circus ban among other issues, so please come out and join us! At this meeting there will be an opportunity to write your own letter and put together any materials you would like to give President Hitt to encourage him to ban the use of animals here at UCF. We will also draft a statement from BARC and pass out petitions. It is important that we give President Hitt as much encouragement as possible to prohibit the use of animals in entertainment at UCF.
