Hi all,

The next BarCamp Sydney is scheduled for March 1 and 2.

There are a few things that need to be sorted out asap.

--------------
1. TIME
--------------
There is a lot of interest from people (regularly emailing to find out when
and where). However, a few people have expressed concern about March 1 and 2
as the dates (timing too tight, funerals to go to, no notes from their
mothers etc).

A. Should we stay with March 1 and 2 as the date or...
B. Move the event back a few weeks to give us a little more time to plan,
sort out a venue and spread the word.

--------------
2. UNORGANISERS
--------------
Unfortunately, many of our current batch of unorgansers have been abducted
by aliens. So, we need people who are interested in become unorganisers so
that we can pull this event off! What's in it for you? Fame, glory, a
knighthood (or Damehood?)... Riches beyond your wildest dreams!

A. Are you interested in becoming an unorganiser - ie help us get this event
happening or...
B. Are you happy to help out on the day (an on-the-day unorganiser) or...
C. Are you interested in helping out as financial unorganiser for the event
- sending invoices etc (jail time is essential in order to undertake this
position).

Let's hear some noise!
Over to you, BarCampers!
Thanks
Russ

Hi All,

We would be happy to set up Saasu.com | web finance engine, as BarCampSydney's invoicing system and provide it free for at least a couple of years as a form of sponsorship and service. We have internal people who could manage the invoicing for the March event, and then whoever is doing the invoicing in the future (be it Saasu people or anyone else who can fit it in) can all easily use the system because it's a SaaS accounting system.

The licence we can provide is a 2 year subscription with 5 users (plus free use by the BarCampSydney registered tax accountants).

We have provided similar sponsorship to AWIA (Australian Web Industry Association) for a couple of years now. They love it.

Let me know what you think!

Cheers,
Marc

Hi Russ,

I'm happy to volunteer some time in whatever capacity you would find most useful. I haven't made it to a BarCamp before (shame!) so keep in mind I'm a newbie but I have the general idea of how these things go.

Hey All

I’m gonna stick my head in here and sing Saasu’s praises. They’re a great Australian company with a great product; I use them for all of my business’ finances and have never looked back.

For those that are interested in the offer – it’s worth more than $1600....! But I guess if you were the interested type (ie a beanie!) then you’d have worked that out already! :P

Good offer guys. I just wanted to give the BarCamp people a gentle push in the right direction....

Hey Russ

Sure I am up for some unorganising.... Apart from helping out on the day, what else do you need?

Hi

Is the date of 1st/2nd set?  Any chance it can be moved a bit back (atleast by a week)?

Cheers

Hi Sriram,

We are thinking about moving it back maybe more than a week. Will be posting a few dates on the Group so BarCampers can choose which ones.

Cheers,

Hey folks

1) March 1st and 2nd aren't a problem. Not a problem if later makes it
easier for people to attend or organise.

2) B - Should be able to help out on the day.

Cheers
Andrew

Hi Russ,
I'd be happy to help out too. 1st/2nd March are fine for me.
I guess the biggest problem is securing the venue. Any idea if thats
sorted? If so we should be in good shape for that weekend

Just send
me an email offline to get me across what needs to be done

I'm another newbie, but I wouldn't mind lending some time to help
organize things as an unorganizer (yes, that sounds odd).

I'm very keen to be an unorganizer. Though I'm a newbie to BarCamp as
well, I'd love to get involved.

Another novice who's been recruited by Ajay but I'm willing to help
out in any way I can.
