Ming Yeow here. As most of you folks know, we are having an event called Nexus 2007, coming up in just 2 weeks time! There had been a lot of updates recently, but check out the mail below for a summary of the updates, and the attached for the concise program.
Oh ya, we have a pre-Nexus event, called Geekout, where we introduce cool technologists working on cool stuff to the community and to our overseas guests. Currently, we are showing 3 (

Shwup.com, Genometric). 2 more slots open, though we have quite a few folks on the waiting list. Sign up if it is of interest to you!
Nat Torkington from O'Reilly Radar and Perl Foundation Board, and Andreas Weigend, former chief scientist of
Amazon.com will be at Geekout too as guests, and Nexus as panelists as well!

Nexus 2007 is finally out of Beta mode! Helping us make the panels are relevant as possible are the
moderators, folks like
Kevin Lim,
Bernard Leong,
Darius Cheung
, Kae Fong, Wilson Tan),
who are part of our community. The discussions has also been focused
further in the wiki. We have also finalized all the panel speakers,
with more cool companies like Google, Second Life, Velvet Puffin,
joining us in the panels and for Geekout (the pre-
Nexus demo of cool products)

Here are the summary of the updates:
Attendees:- So
far, we have almost 400 attendees signing up, ranging from
entrepreneurs, professionals, investors and students (35%). Companies
like Tencube, XM-Asia are sending entire teams down!
The attendee browsing system will be up soon. We are gunning
for 600, and we are starting a next round of buzz soon, so we expecting
a burst of attendees next week.
New Participating Companies
Folks from the 2 most exciting companies to set up R&D offices in Singapore for a long time,
Google and Second Life, will be at
Nexus. Also, the first Singaporean company to be profiled at Techcrunch, mobile social network
Velvet Puffin will be @
Nexus as well to be on the mobile web panel. We also added a few other speakers, including Jennifer Lewis, Editor,
Stomp.com.sg (For Media Crowdsourcing), and Bobby Napiltonia,
Senior VP of Salesforce.com

One of our goals at
Nexus is to help raise the awareness of cool local
companies, and to help communities gather
- Demo your technology/innovation @ Geekout!,
an event where the
local tech community gathers together with our speakers, Andreas
(former chief scientist, Amazon) and Nat (O'Reilly). There are still 2
slots available for presentation, but there are a few in the waiting
list, so indicate interest fast!
- Help decide the agenda
before hand in the wiki.
- Participate Live@nexus, and create a common document together on the web (Probably Google documents).
- Community gatherings happening, for example
the Open Source and Second Life communities in Singapore.
