Dear DMC Alumni

I hope this email finds you well. This is Muyhong, a project manager for Mapping Memories Cambodia (MMC) project of the DMC. We are recruiting 16 young Cambodian journalists, producers, artists, and students who wants to learn or improve multimedia production skill to join  four-day training under the theme of Khmer Rouge History (Nov 29 - Dec 02). 

The training is open for anyone with basic production skills (video, audio, photo and writing), and having interests in Khmer rouge history. Multimedia Production Training for Conflict Sensitive Reporting: Khmer Rouge History (Nov 29 to Dec 02)


What is it about?
Mapping Memories Cambodia (MMC) is a project implemented by the the Department of Media and Communication (DMC) of the Royal University of Phnom Penh (RUPP), with support from Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and Civil Peace Service (CPS). 

MMC is an interactive web- and mobile application that tells place-based stories of the Khmer Rouge (KR) era. MMC identifies and locates places of significance of the KR era on a Cambodian map, and guides users to places where history happened. The journey to the points of interest is led by storytelling in audio, video, text, and pictures. It aims to attract young Cambodians to learn about the KR history, and trigger a dialogue with their peers and family members. 

Who are we looking for?
DMC is looking for 16 young Cambodian journalists, producers, artists and students who want to learn or improve multimedia production skill to participate in a four-day training under the theme of the Khmer Rouge history. 

Training Details:
  • Date:            November 29 to December 02, 2018 
  • Venue:         Department of Media and Communication (DMC), Phnom Penh
  • Language:   English
  • Per diem and travel costs during production will be paid. 
Selected trainee will receive training by Andreas Illmer, Multimedia Journalist for BBC Singapore, and Nov Povleakhena, Lecturer of Multimedia & Online Journalism of DMCThe training focuses on multimedia production, story development and story telling for mobile devices, and conflict sensitive reporting. The trainee will produce at least one multimedia content for publication, and will also have a chance to have their work published on MMC web- and mobile application.
