I would recommend for a pure Linux question join the PPLUG. Phnom Penh Linux Users Group

http://groups.google.com/group/pplug

The KhmerOS Open Institute may be able to assist too if it is a localization issue:

http://www.khmeros.info/drupal612/

Finally consider the forum for your distro or Linux Questions forum:

http://ubuntuforums.org/

http://www.linuxquestions.org/

http://forums.opensuse.org/

http://fedoraforum.org/

Good luck.

Paul

Dear All,

I've just installed Window 7 in my computer. I love the new look and interface of Window 7. However, I find it so sophisticated that I have run into two troubles so far.

1- I could not use Kapersky although I could install it in!

2- Same with Adobe Acrobat. I can read the files under .pdf, but am unable to convert the files I created into .pdf. What is missing here?

Anyone cal help???

im not quite sure with your question number 1 is i havent found a [pirated] license of kaspersky...

with number 2, you might need to install the entire "adobe acrobat professional" and not just acrobat reader...

1. Using pirated anti-virus software is not very smart. You are basically using software cracked by the same criminals that want to crack into your bank account details or turn your computer into part of a botnet. If you are going to use Windows you should only download software from know sources and not crap from Warez sites or the Russian Market.

I like Tucows or Download.com because they check their software for viruses and spyware:

http://www.tucows.com/
http://download.cnet.com/windows/

Also not a bad idea to check with Norton Safeweb before you download any Windows Software:

http://safeweb.norton.com/

If you use pirated software you deserve all the security problems you will get. In this case I agree with Microsoft. Not something you will hear often.

For anti-virus I would suggest Avira or Avast which are free for home users.

2. Get OpenOffice.org from the Khmer OS people http://www.khmeros.info , With one click you can make a pdf. Even if you are running a legit copy of Microsoft Office it may be handy to have. Khmer translators at work tell me OpenOffice is a lot better for typing in Khmer than Microsoft Office.

Thanks Nestle....

1- I don't know if it's a pirate or genuine Kapersky. But Udom, whom you may know, ran into the same problem. Only when install another anti-virus, the compatibility is there! A bit strange. I made some search over Internet. All they said about Kapersky with Win7 is that they issue a last version for testing. And the testing period is over now! Anyway, I run Avira now on my computer just for the time being... And it works out fine so far although I still consider Kapersky probably No 1 anti-virus.

2- I just found my own way out on Adobe Converter. All I needed to do is to Print my document to Adobe PDF so it will turn to the .pdf format I want... Cool right? Maybe there are some better ways...!

Hi Sithen,

For question number 1 you don't need to stick with only kaspersky because if you don't keep updating virus definition ur pc will be infected . and the second question, if you need to print as .pdf you need to have Acrobat Professional 7.0 or above.  OpenOffice is easier. you just export ur file as pdf.

Hi,
You should update your windows 7, there are some patch update for software compatibility, you should have that one installed. In regards with drivers, search and download Driver Genius Professional, then scan, this soft will automatically scan your machine with all the driver needed will download and install it for you.

Cheers,

my favorite antivirus program is Avira...  download the free version at  www.free-av.com    I have been using it and recommending it for many years now...   never a problem so far...   and with the free version you no longer worry about licensing

2- Same with Adobe Acrobat. I can read the files under .pdf, but am unable to convert the files I created into .pdf. What is missing here?

I find Adobe Acrobat heavy and lacking in features...  try Foxit reader...   been using it since the early days...  faster, and more features...

I'm not sure this is a late respond or not. As I used to have this problem and found that we only can print as PDF by go to file print and choose to print out as PDF. By the way, if you are using office 2007 you should install add-in to save any document as PDF.
