Hey Folks,

If you're interested in helping us jumpstart Orlando's Tech Scene this year, we'll be having a meeting this Thursday at 8 PM at Urban Rethink to have a discussion about three upcoming events: BarCamp Orlando, Small Talk Orlando, and the MP3 Experiment.

The first BarCamp Orlando was on September 23rd, 2007 at Taste in College Park, where we brought the community together to share and learn from each other. Since then we've had 4 years of successful BarCamps, mostly taking place downtown in the middle of Wall Street Plaza at the beginning of April.  If you'd like to give your feedback about BarCamp and help shape this year's event, this is your opportunity.

Also during the meeting we will discuss a new event that Eric Allam and I want to put together called Small Talk Orlando.  Small Talk Orlando will pickup where Ignite Orlando left off, curating a night of 5 minute talks, each with 20 slides which change automatically every 15 seconds.

Lastly (if we have time), we'll discuss the MP3 Experiment Orlando for those who are interested, and how that might fit into these events.

Before the meeting at 6:30 PM Urban Rethink is running "Tech Thursday" and exploring the fascinating world of assistive or adaptive technology (AT).  Katheryn Neel will lay out a context for how AT comes into play and share the evolution of this new science. This talk will be followed by a demo of the Orbitouch™ Keyless Keyboard: a alternative to the standard keyboard, designed by local Maitland-based company, Orbitouch.

Hopefully see a few of you at 8 PM this Thursday to help us plan some events!  For a flashback of the first Orlando BarCamp, see this video by Jason Hawkins:
