Barcamp is getting closer!
Two and a half weeks left till our main event, April 18th. I thought I'd let you know about a few events going on around town leading up to BarCamp, including the "Battle of the Web Frameworks", Doterati's first big Tech event April 8th where we take 4 different technologies and make them battle it out on stage!
Saturday, April 4th - Pillowlando - 5pm-5:30pm, at Duncan Park at SunTrust Center
PILLOWLANDO9 is Orlando’s “Official 2009 World Pillow Fight Day Event,” timed to coincide with pillow fights in cities all over the world; and (currently) the only event of its kind in the state of Florida.

Thursday, April 8th - Battle of the Web Frameworks - doors open at 6:30 PM at Slingapours
If you had to build a website from scratch, which technology would you
use to do it? What if
you could throw each web framework into thunder dome, watch them battle
to the death, and see which emerged the sole survivor? The PHP guy (David Rogers), Python Guy (Joshua Blount), Java guy (Jason Skipper), and me (the Ruby guy) will be giving 15 minute presentations describing why you should be using OUR framework of choice to develop websites. It should be an interesting night of discussion, bring your questions and come support your language of choice!

Don't forget, every friday is free co-working day at CoLab. Come work and have lunch with other techs from the community. See the website for more information.

Friday, April 10th - Lake Eola Photowalk - 5 PM at CoLab Orlando
Do you like photography? Ryan Price has occasionally been running Photo walks around town. Photowalking (faux-toe-wha-keen), AKA the social act of taking pictures
of things you probably walk past every day, but never take the time to
really look at. One example would be those eyesore Gibson guitars all
over town.

Drunken Monkey Coffee Bar
Come out and have your morning coffee with Likeminded people the day before BarCamp.

and it's after BarCamp, but it's worth mentioning:
Monday, April 20th - Florida Creatives - 6 PM - 9 PM at the Crooked Bayou
It's not a user group, it's not an unconference, it's not a geek dinner,
it's not a meetup or a networking event. Yet, people who enjoy these
types of events will find a home at our table. Indeed, whether they be engineers, entrepreneurs, artists, actors,
writers, or anyone else, the spark of invention brings us all to the
marketplace, and has kept us coming back for over 2 years.
