Hi,

As I've never managed to get to the meetings at the venue, I'm trying to get my bearings for planning what signs to print.

Can someone confirm that the registration desk grid is on the Ground Floor, with session rooms on the floor above (1st Floor) and common room, crew room, remaining two session rooms on the lower ground floor (i.e. the one below the reg. desk)??

Thanks!

- Leeky.

Small snag with this plan means we will have a LOT of people on that balcony. May need to nice stuff around.

Discuss on Thursday.

Hi Kevin,

If the grid moves, please let me know so I can print more signs :)

It shouldnt. we thought this through pretty thoroughly and I think we're not going to have a crowd issue.

Most definitely will for the first hour, people will be trying to get to the desk to register while people are crowding the grid.

We went opening grid at 10am when we first discussed this at the venue.

First off: it's a uni, which is used to taking a lot of people coming in.

Secondly, we will open the grid by giving people their pens + grid cards in their bags, so people will be writing their cards downstairs.

I am probably bringing up something that has been discussed many times in the past but has there ever been an online-only grid? Everyone coming will have some kind of internet enabled device I should think and so to prevent crowding around the grid have it online where it can be seen anywhere. Then as a possible extra there could be a large physical grid that's updated by barcamp staff only. Or it could be projected or something.

Am I being a little over-ambitious?

Been discussed at length. But requires longish development and a ton of testing!

It would also solve some problems but create others.
