Aloha amigos,

So we've been going for 7 years... and have had over 200 events, what a wild ride! I'm working on some big client projects for 2014 so tomorrow is going to be the last Mindshare... *of the 2nd iteration at least. The first iteration was "underground & open bar" and ended in 2009. The second iteration was largely "unsponsored & grassroots" and took us into 2013, iteration 3 will be... well, we'll see if it pans out :)

Anyhoo, we'd love to see you to close out this iteration with the largest event that we've ever had! FULL Details below.

If you can make it, here's a code for $5 off :)

Much love and gratitude for your support throughout the years,

Dougie

3D Blacklight Main Stage

Debi Cable will be morphing the main stage into a full on 3D blacklight experience with music so hot it will melt your brain until it dribbles down your spine.

Line up as follows:

The Chill Lounge

Looking for something a little more downtempo? Come on into the Lounge of Horrors and let the tunes molest your ear drums as you drink a refreshing cocktail.

Line up as follows:

MIDNIGHT: Nicholas “Pumpkin” Alvarado is your new favorite music producer/DJ. His spot-on song selections, special remixes and original productions have made for unforgettable live sets that seamlessly span every genre and eschew the latest trends in favor of timeless melodies that will leave a ginormous smile plastered across your face. MIDNIGHT: Anton Tumas regularly hosts cutting edge International and local talent and is also a resident at Monday Night Social; LA’s longest running weekly club night. In a world where DJs are often chasing fame and glory, Anton is happily exploring the underground, taking whoever is in earshot on a journey into uncharted territory, without compromise!

..

10pm: The Black 22s are are not just DJs, but Good Vibe creators. No two Black 22s sets are the same and endless hunting for new tracks keeps their sound fresh for them and their listeners. When combined  J*Labs and Lou E. Bagels bring a bass heavy funky dirty genre-busting party vibe that keeps the dance floor bouncing. 9pm: A.SUN has been building a following for his unique style since the 90s. In 2004 began a weekly Hollywood night called Space Station 3 which ran for more than six years. Meanwhile, A.SUN has been producing his own music and creating an original new direction that he'll be sharing as he takes listeners though a voyage through his unique soundscapes.

.

7pm, Talk Interstitials + After Talk Listening Lounge: Once again we welcome Super Tall Paul who will be playing before and during the talks! SuperTallPaul has been a regular favorite at Mindshare for years, and won the 2013 title of National Looping Champion!

The Psychology of Fear: Virtual Reality vs. Fear-Based Pathology
Skip Rizzo / Associate Director for Medical Virtual , Reality, USC ICT

War is perhaps one of the most challenging situations that a human being can experience. The incidence of the fear-based pathology, posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in returning "Operation Enduring Freedom" and "Operation Iraqi Freedom” (OIF/OEF) military personnel has created a significant behavioral healthcare challenge. One emerging form of treatment for combat-related PTSD that has shown promise involves using immersive Virtual Reality for the delivery of exposure therapy (VRET). Skip will detail how virtual reality applications are being designed and implemented to prevent, identify and treat combat-related PTSD in OIF/OEF service members and veterans.

Albert “Skip” Rizzo is a clinical psychologist and Associate Director at the University of Southern California Institute for Creative Technologies. He is also a research professor with the USC Dept. of Psychiatry and at the USC Davis School of Gerontology. Skip conducts research on the design, development and evaluation of Virtual Reality systems targeting the areas of clinical assessment, treatment and rehabilitation across the domains of psychological, cognitive and motor functioning and treating PTSD, TBI, Autism, ADHD, Alzheimer’s disease, stroke and other clinical conditions. In his spare time, he plays rugby, listens to music, rides his motorcycle.

The Smell of Fear: Fear in 4 Dimensions
Bryan Roe / Founde & President SensoryCo

SensoryCo is a leader in atmospheric special effects for simulation and training environments including smells, smoke effects, weather effects such as mist, rain, haze, heat, and wind as well as our patent-pending spraymotion water spritzers. Their ultra-realistic aromas include a library of odors and malodors related to medical and battlefield training, hazardous chemicals, gases and choking agents, natural environmental smells, and man-made smells.

Bryan Roe has lived many lives. After considering a major in music, he took a more conservative route and pursued degrees in communications and sociology from the University of California, Davis. After graduating, he rapidly evolved into a serial entrepreneur where he participated in and founded several start-ups ranging from process manufacturing to voice technologies to interactive marketing to fog systems to SensoryCo's special FX. When he is not dreaming up the next Big Idea, he is spending time with his two daughters, his wife, Bella the pug, Lily the bunny and a variety of other pets. Needless to say Bryan likes his "cave time" where he is free to concoct more crazy ideas.

The Allure of Fearful Situations: Haunted Houses and Horror
Josh Randall / Co-creator & Founder of Blackout:Elements Haunted House

Since 2009, BLACKOUT has produced 12 different shows and currently has productions running in NYC, LA, and Chicago. Previous positions in NYC include the head of Stage Management and Programming for the New York Times Travel Show at the Jacob Javits Center; Director of Programming for the Creative Alliance Group; and Producing Artistic Director for the Drama Desk nominated Vortex Theater Company. Producing highlights: AGAMEMNON (Drama Desk nomination), The Story of the HMS Pinafore (Drama Desk nomination), the first NY revival of Kander and Ebb’s Kiss of the Spider Woman The Musical, Maurice Maeterlink’s The Blind (directed by Blackout partner, Kris Thor), and IN DELIRIUM (NY Innovative Theater Award nomination). Having produced more than 30 shows in New York, Josh has also worked in the administrative offices of the Summer Play Festival at the Public Theater, Second Stage Theater, Manhattan Theater Club, and New York City Opera.

The Blackout Haunted House has been described described as a cross between "Fear Factor" and "The Saw." It's a live, interactive theater experience so extreme one must not only be over 18 years of age but also sign a waiver and be granted a "safe word" in order to participate. Visitors describe the experience as like no other haunted experience. Sounds pretty scary, right? Yet the show has consistently drawn an audience year after year since 2009. Josh will explore the human curiosity and allure to put oneself in these scary situations, and discuss the elements that have made this experience so different and terrifying in comparison to other haunted houses.
